Miata Erebuni fiberglass Extractor hood NOVA area
anyone interested in this before I jump on it? I hate paint work so figured I'd share. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...489754646.html

WTF would Brad post it on CL instead and not here first?
You need to clearance the area above the timing belt cover, especially so with 90-93 chassis with 1.8 motors. It *should* drop into a 90-93 with stock motor, but I believe Brad is running a 1.6 so...
whaaamx5 clearanced his to fit, his (94 or 95) with 1.8 motor and it looks and fits fine.
What exactly has to be done to make the hood work properly anyway?

we just need to trim a bit off it. Brad's moving and doesnt have a place to store it anymore really. I was going to help him this weekend and totally forgot, I think he put on CL to try to unload it really fast before his lease ends.
I'm now trying to convince him to keep it here in my office, or in my garage until we can get 'er done.

yeah they molded it so the "extractors" that scavenge, sit too low and hit the valve cover, you need to take about 1" off the entire edge to clear the valve cover. I have an air cutting wheel tool, brad = dremel.

The "cutting" shouldn't be anything more than some simple grinding and sanding. The hood is going to need some paint prep anyway probably.
While we're on a hood subject, what is a stock Mazda NA hood worth? I have an extra in good shape, complete with greddy carb sticker affixed to the underside.

With how far back over the v-cover that opening is are you concerned about water gettin into the spark plugs? How would that fair with exposed cams?

we made sure to cut the least amount possible. I wouldn't be too concerned about water, only when parked during a downpour, typically when we don't leave the miata out.
here are two others cut to show the difference:
whaaaaaamx5's
rappadan's:
what's rediculous is how erebuni got away with selling something that doesn't come close to fitting without cutting.
