Fake news.

First decade ended 1999 with the 10AE.
2000 had the SE, literally named for special edition.
2001 had the SE in BRG with wood trim.
02 SE in titanium gray (and yellow? Or was that 03?)
03 Shinsen
04 and 05 MSM, and probably something else nobody cares about.

Things slowed down with the NC, but there were special editions in '06 I think with red leather interiors. There were some later special edtions, like in 2012 when they did the ones with black wheels and black hardtop which eventually basically became the club versions.

2015 25th anniversary car
2016 launch edition
2019 30th anniversary edition

Yeah. Fake news.

Yeah. Fake news.

I said first decade "or so".
Relax, no need to go all Trump FAKE NEWS on me. :)

turbofan 03-01-2019 01:28 AM

So by first decade "or so" you meant first three decades?

Oh, sorry, how could I have misunderstood that?

Eat a Snickers, you are being a diva.

Just correcting your correction amigo. Might as well take it to 11.

More special editions to come. For now, I love this one.

Damn. Mazda should really be selling this car in that color. That looks good.

Well, if you can't go orange... go grey?

Congrats man!

turbofan 03-24-2019 03:12 AM

Congrats!! Ceramic? '19?

wackbards 03-24-2019 07:12 AM

Yep. '19 club in ceramic. Ceramic took a while to grow on me, but it's a unique paint.

turbofan 03-24-2019 11:09 AM

Same. It's a great color for being a non-color.

DeerHunter 03-24-2019 11:39 AM

Well done! Looking forward to your thoughts about the engine and whole package.

wackbards 03-24-2019 11:51 AM

Well my first impression is that it's a little too refined as compared to what I'm used to. I stalled it at a stop sign twice yesterday because I couldn't hear the engine or feel the clutch engagement. A GWR super street muffler is in my future. Just, ya know, as soon as I sell a kidney or something.

1. 2018-19 Sport (give them a couple of years to fix the gearbox and whatever other issues come up);
2. Swap in LSD from a wrecked 2016 Club;
3. Add the ND XIDAs, 6ULs and recommended sways that will be out by then;
4. Add ND roll bar;
5. Add long-tube headers, exhaust and tune to add 40ft-lbs across entire rev range;
6. Profit!! :likecat: :party: :likecat: :party:

Modernized 95R project!

Well, the time has come to execute my 2016 plan. I don't even need to do #5 anymore -- Mazda did it for me and I can keep the warranty.

But, geez, it's hard to find a regular, soft-top Sport model.

wackbards 03-26-2019 05:23 PM

7 sport manuals in socal right now according to Mazda USA's inventory search tool. I always just use 90805 to search socal.

Going to go with an OEM LSD or an OS Giken or similar?

I think I'm going to wait until this fall and pick up a GT-S, there is only like an 8lb weight penalty over the Club and it has a thicker top which will be nice since it will be a dual-duty car.

I'm thinking the OEM LSD. I think Emilio was happy with that on his orange GT. But OS Giken is a simple alternative if the OEM proves hard to find.

There are Sports around here too. They are all either white or black, and far less numerous than the upscale models. The price delta gives a lot of money to buy the bits I actually want.
