I really wouldn't take him or this board too seriously.

A miata would still be way more fun to drive IMO.

FWIW, you would be suprised how much fun ******* around in a grass/dirt/gravel/mud/snow field with 20 other idiots is. I have that '02 WRX in the picture, and '06 STI, a '90 AWD/Turbo DSM, and our '99 Turbo Miata. I've been to Pro Rally, club races, PDX, autocross, rallycross, drag, and one drift. The two most fun groups to hang around with are the Pro/Club Rally folks and the Rallycrossers. Next would be Club Racers and Autocrossers, but many seem to be wound a bit too tight. I can't take the drag/drift crowd for very long, too much immaturity and drama.

If you want to stick to dry smooth tarmac, like to scare yourself, are looking to impress your buddies with a slammed ride, smokey burnouts, and enjoy spending lots of 'quality time' in the garage, trade for the miata. Don't get me wrong, I love our miata, but it's very 'specialized'.

If you want the fastest and most confidence inspiring way to get from point A to point B under non ideal conditions, and are willing to try some friendly competiton in the loose stuff, keep the scoobie.

Second, thanks for the compliments on my car.

Third, my mind was not made up, and I have no desire for the miata after everybody's posts, so don't act like you know what you're talking about.

Everyone here turned me off of the miata pretty much in the first few posts, and the thread isn't even about that anymore. Now it's obviously just an off topic thread about people interested in my car, my personal preferences when it comes to cars, and people giving me advice about rally cross events. Really not much mention of the original miata on this whole 2nd page.

In fact, feel free to move this out of general miata chat.

Done feeding the troll.
Dude rally is awesome and you are just a lame-o subaru driver if you do not love the rally. I mean, you don't even have snow tires on your car. You disgrace japanese people and everything else that is american.

I know I wanna be a rally driver!
Love the black/gold combo. Just wish it would look clean for more than 10min.

Both of ours are white, easier to fix when I beat **** up.

My wife wants a 2011 Blue Ridge Pearl STI sedan. I'm fairly certain that will be our next car, and I'm definitely not going to argue. Just need to wait a couple years and find one gently used.

We choose Miatas because they are RWD, lightweight, and inexpensive.

Here is a fun DIY turbo setup on a Miata that was done on a budget.

The guy has a build thread here.
https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo-discussion-14/diy-preliminary-results-11402/

Here is another one of our members running down Porsches on a large road course:

And another member lapping cars (including a STI) at Laguna Seca:

And another one of our members running at Spa Francorchamps:

There are many more but I don't have the time to search. We would welcome you to come play, too, if you want.

Yep, if you want a track car, miata is the way to go, it's exciting and it takes skill to drive. I drove the miata to work this morning, and having the top down in this beautiful weather was nice.

My GF is looking at them right now...for purchase in the next 1-2 yrs.... itll be that or a 911 turbo. I don't care what she gets as long as I get the Volk TE37s that are on her Mazdaspeed right now

I'd love a 911T, but I don't want to have to perform or pay for the maintenance. I understand clutch/flywheel changes are $1500+ in parts and are loads of fun.

I agree with the others. The Miata may not be one of the more polished rides I've owned but it's by far the most fun to drive.

BTW **** who wants to see subaru F1!!!

Yeehaw! I think that rally is much better than F1 except for the year when McRae won the Rome grand prix circuit by 8 tenths. What do you think?
