mx5 sr20det conversion speedo help!!
hi everyone
after a long build I hav gotten stuck with my speedo in my na8 mx5 lol , I have finished a sr20det conversion, the car is running and amazing!!, only thing i need to do to is get the speedo working
the factory mx5 speedo is cable driven but the sr20 5 speed gearbox out of a s13 uses a electronic digital speed sensor
has anyone who has done this conversion found a way to use to get the standard speedo to work with the sr box?
cheers!!

I think custom clusters never look good although the kg works one is pretty cool but I would prefer to use the standard cluster I have all the other gauges working
I have read that you can use a ca18det cable drive in the sr box and get a cable made to suit the mx5 cluster I might try that first, just hope it will read the correct speed, if anyone could comfort that works will save me some mucking around
cheers!

I've seen info where some people have used S12 mechanical drive speedo senders on S13 transmissions when they swap SR20s into the older chassis.
Example:

That link doesn't really give an answer (the results were hit and miss).
I'm thinking an NB dash may be the go (but info says it's a heap of splicing).
Maybe just the NB speedo (electric) alone, but will it talk to the Nissan gbox sender?

for anyone who wants to get their speedo working, Dakota digital makes a product called a ecm-100 (link below) that will allow you to use an electronic speed sensor with a cable driven speedo, its made for gm cars so you will need to get a custom speedo cable made as well but it will work!
