I've been considering what I should make my DD lately since my 93 always seems to be broken and I miss dailying a convertible. Last week an ad on craigslist made up my mind for me.

A 99 miata was listed for 1200 bucks with "deer damage". Turns out the guy was retired and didn't feel like keeping the car any longer. When I showed up to take a look, I realized it had always been garaged (car is just covered in dust in pics), 82k miles, and had a new glass top. I offered him 2k on the spot (since there was others interested) and walked away with the car. For another 500 I ended up with a painted door and fender to replace the dents and cosmetic damage.

Very nice find. I looked on cl for two months straight for a miata for my gf and checked out so many $1000-$7000 pieces of ****. ugh.

Wouldn't you for that car? Guy had a lot of interest and may have been wavering. I'd have done the same standing there.

 

Yes, there were a few offers above the 1200 mark, and I wanted to ensure I would get the car. The private party KBB in "good" condition is 5.2k with excellent at 5.7k. So far I'm in 2.5k.

That would be economics. Statics is like ME ****.

 

I can't look at charts like that without getting pissed about healthcare.
