I got my headlights in from Ebay Saturday. I insattled them without the HID'
s and I was very impressed at how much better the lighting was than stock. As cheap as they were I would suggest that everyone make this uupgrade even if you can't afford the HID's. Hopefully my HID's will get in this week!

Got the Hella E-codes from Bill @ miataroadster.com.
Tried them with halogen bulbs first. They did a much better job than stock sealed beams, but failed to impress me vs ching chong + HID. So I put the HIDs in the E-codes. The E-codes sit further forward from the headlight buckets, so I had to move the HID ballasts. I also had to completely re-aim the E-codes. And they can indeed be aimed in a manner that is polite to other traffic.
The cut-offs are pretty damn amazing with the E's & HIDs. Looks very much like a real projector. The patterns are better, with even light distribution. No hot spots or odd artifacts in the lit area. Also the bulb shields are much more securely mounted in the Hellas compared to ching chong, so the lit area doesn't shake or bounce around like it would before.
My preference, worst to first
-stock
-ching chong + halogen
-E-code + halogen
-ching chong + HID
- (empty)
-E-code + HID
I will say that the best value is the cheap ebay housings with the HID, so if you want to get in and out as inexpensively as possible, it's a fine option. If you can scratch up the extra $45, get the E-codes.
Might get some pics on a non-reflective wall tomorrow AM.

Finally got around to installing my E-Codes..
Left side is E-Code, right side is crappy chingchong "projector" junk lights. Identical HID bulb in each housing. Painfully obvious which puts out better light, and chineese headlight housings are just complete and total junk. After a drive I'm VERY VERY happy!

i like the look of them but i dont like how they tint the glass to make it blue. blue headlights tend to look a little ricey. I j ust ordered a set of moss low pros that i plan to convert to hids. i dont like how high the headlights sit. i like to be able to see all of the road and not the barn doors. makes my car look like this >>>>>>>>>

I have been thinking about converting to projectors for a while now. I have some kind of non projector low pro headlite kit. I got it by trading my oem headlights to a girl who thought they were cute(I know, there should be more girls like her out there)
My friend just gave me a projector from a sc400. It is too long to fit on the low beam side and I dont want to use it on the high beam side. After examining it, I find that I can take it apart into two pieces, so it would be very easy to shorten it, but would the cutoffs inside the lens be positioned in the wrong place(as in: would the cutoff be blurry, or in the wrong place)?

I got the Xentec H4 6000k lights from a guy on Mazda6 Forums for like $80.00.

I installed my Xentec 6000K H4's tonight. There is some glare (though not as much as the [shitty] pics suggest) thanks to the eBay headlights, but the light output is much better than the Hella H4's I had before and no one flashed me on my test drive.

I am stupid when it comes to headlights and the associated electronics. To go HID would I just have to get one of the HID kits linked here and put in in my H4 housing? I am still not sure on how you are supposed to wire up the ballasts, do most people just use the stock harnesses?
And has anyone bought the H4-2 with high and low beams? I live in the canyons, and I use my high beams quite often, are the low beam HID really that amazing that it gets rid of the need for high beams? I just want maximum visibility as most of the other people on here, would there be a way of having HID high and low beam? Or is that the mechanical system that people have already discussed and said would likely brake.
And SamS, are your turn signals tinted? How did you do that?

You can just buy an H4 HID kit on eBay and plug it right into the stock harness.
I believe Ben has the HID lo beam and halogen high beam, I went with just HID low beams. The only way to have HID high and low is with the mechanical system that moves the bulb back and forth. It's really a matter of preference.
I bought my turn signals on ebay, but some people tint lenses with model paint.

Well I think I may (when I have the $) pull the trigger on the bi-xenon HID kit and see how that works out. They SAY that it has a 14 month warranty, although knowing e-bay that could mean anything.
Are you sure that I can actually plug it into my stock harness? As in truly plug and play? I wouldn't even have to solder the wires? If so then this could be pretty bad ***, $113 for a Bi-xenon kit shipped doesn't sound that bad.

Sweet, well then the easy way is the best for me. Would H4-3 bulbs fit the same as the H4 bulbs? I'm just looking at the auction right now trying to figure out what I would be getting.
