Default NA miata light won't pop up

1996 NA
hit the switch to open the lights and you hear the "click" at each headlight but they won't open...

what's up with that?

IIRC, there is a 30A fuse in the fuse box under the hood labeled retractor. More than likely that is the problem.

if the fuse is blown then make sure nothing is jammed in either headlight

wait, you hear a sound at the headlights themselves? can you open the lights manually with the **** on the top of each motor?

Headlight failures are usually either a fuse issue, a relay issue (the relay is under the dash on a 1.6. I would imagine it's in exactly the same place for a 1.8), or a motor.

We can probably eliminate motor, seeing as they both are doing it and I can't imagine them both dying at exactly the same time, right?

And fuse is easy enough to test with a meter.

that's why it's at the end of my short list.

My money's on the fuse or the relay.

right.
it's a 1.8
headlights open with the round ****/manually...just fine, no sticking issues
i'll check the fuse out.
yes, they make a subtle "click" sound at each headlight when the headlight door switch is pressed.
