Default NA VSS options?

A couple goals I have are to ditch my instrument cluster for an Android based setup, and to ditch that stupid speedometer cable... I'm also swapping my r&p from 4.10 to 4.30, so I'm looking for a VSS solution. I've experimented with external GPS modules, but I think VSS would be better for data logging and speedometer use - Its inaccurate with tree cover, going under bridges, etc.. Searching tells me that I can't just take an NB speed sensor, pop it into my transmission and run it directly to my MS3 pro. I've read on here that I would need a MAX9924 to condition the output, but I've got no idea how to set that up - are there any diagrams out there I can use? Anyone using the NB sensor in an NA without the NB instrument cluster to condition the output?

I did some more digging so I thought I'd post the solution for future searches.

For the MS to understand the signal from the NB VSS, a VR conditioner has to process it into a square wave signal. Searches here will dig up posts on what the waveform looks like.

This board from jbperf Dual VR Conditioner Board V2.1 will do the job. The same board can be used to process cam/crank signals for the megasquirt. The output from the box can then go to a digital input (VSS in) on the megasquirt.. In my case, I'll have one additional input left over if I want to add additional VSS later.

VSS>GPS for speed detection..

The GPS stuff on the market is pretty bad. Fine for driving around town, but as soon as you're ripping it on track the refresh rate can't keep up. We tested it with our new BMW trans upgrade and we're too pleased.

Try this, paired with a single ABS wheel speed sensor:
