Hey Guys,
I need a new (used) engine for a 99 Miata. Obviously, it's the 1.8 BP engine. The problem I'm facing is that none of the local yards stock Miata parts. From what other model I can use the long block?
Protege?
Escort GT?
And what parts would need to be swapped from the old motor? Oil pan, intake?

pretty sure the bp4w only came on miatas... They got more compression and a different head than the other 'generic' BP engines.

As far as I know the BP blocks are all interchangeable, but the heads and compression ratios changed slightly.

 

Correct. BP4W is miata only.
