Default NB little side skirt hardware? Where the heck can I buy it?

I bought a set of new in box (or so I thought) little skirts and the body shop has them all painted up and ready to mount but there is no hardware or mounting rails in the box!

I have searched all day to find any part numbers or info on them and have found exactly nothing.

Does anyone know where to find the part numbers of the hardware kit or even just the mounting rails?

If they came in a Mazda box with a Mazda part number on the side, I'd be willing to bet the body shop accidentally tossed the hardware in the garbage.

You should be able to call your local Mazda dealership, talk to someone in parts, and get the information you seek. Heck, if you go there, you could probably get a printout of all of the hardware and source it elsewhere....except the rails.

We figured this out the other day, i found part numbers. At last word, there was only one kit available in the US.

No dealership so far has any clue what he's talking about. Pretty shitty situation.

Here's the installation instructions with pictures of all of the hardware (kinda). The thing about the rail is it provides a lip for the sill to "sit" on in the middle/support the middle. Large and small sills have different placement of this rail and a template that comes with the sills....but it can be done without it if you're patient. Also, the "packing" shown is a little foam ring that is sticky on both sides to provide water-proofing to the drilled holes.

http://www.mr-miata.net/stuff/Side_Sill.pdf

I've installed 8-10 of these things, it's really not hard. You should be able to source most of the hardware and it's likely you can get the rails used from a Mazda salvage place like MazMart, TreasureCoast Miata, Parts Group, Planet Miata etc...

Mazda has discontinued both the large and small rail hardware and I bought the very last hardware kit in the country. I still need another to install the skirts. Are the rails the same for the large and small skirts? I could buy a set of large skirts with the rails and hardware, but the template is wrong and I have no idea where to find the template...

It's been awhile since I have messed with these, but IIRC the hardware is everything else but the skirts- meaning all the mounting fasteners, templates and rails.

I don't get what you mean by "I bought the very last hardware kit- I need another", the hardware kit should cover both sides, not just one.

I believe the rails are the same, if not, they should be able to be used. I know my car had the small sills on it when I bought it, and I got the larger ones and put them on without removing the small sill rails....but that was over 7 years ago and my memory of all the details is a bit fuzzy now. It's really not a hard part to install once you get the side of the car up and the wheels off.

It calls for two hardware kits from what I was told. Mazda USA located exactly one hardware kit in the country at a dealership in NC so I bought it. It has been discontinued long enough that the part number is no longer valid to the dealer parts network.

Oh, ****, well in that case, you'll have the templates, a rail and all the hardware.....so you should be able to find most of the hardware elsewhere and maybe come up with an idea for a 2nd rail or call around looking for a used one.

I'm fairly certain i have a rail for him, but like a douchebag i forgot to check while i was at the shop yesterday.

The rail is just a long piece of metal stock with a few holes in it, right?

Yes. I think it is straight but on one side it has a little finger lip that the skirt rides on.

When I mounted mine I just used 3M tape and made some simple brackets to hold the bottom up. You just have to be super careful putting them on since the rail is not there to guide you. They have been on for a couple months and havent fallen off yet.

Huzzah!

I still want to get a rail to see if I can get them reproduced so everyone else isn't SOL.

What did you do in the rear fender to mount them? The factory provides these very unique push on clips with M5 threads. I was going to make my own brackets but wanted to see if you made your own back there as well ?
