I have three NB1 coil packs lying around. While I wait for my parts to show up so I can finish my head refresh, I've decided to figure out which ones are good and which ones are to be thrown out.
I tried using this test (https://www.miata.net/garage/coilpack_test.jpg), however none of my numbers really are on target. One coil pack shows 5kohms, while the other says 8k ohms (example #s). I'd say that the one with the number closest to the target number as described in the test, is better. However what confuses me is that both coils share the same number, so it makes me think that this is just a manufacturing choice.
Has anyone had any experience with testing coil packs other than by throwing them on the car?
