Hello,
So today I was under the car working on my roll bar install. Next for the day was to drop the diff and swap the carrier to my welded diff.

But I found my rear two 17mm PPF bolts were ground down pretty damn flat, flat enough where there is no head, before I **** myself. How would you removed them, I know there fairly thick bolts so I was thinking of some options my self. Option 1, drill hole and attempt the easy out, Option 2, file smooth and weld on a 15mm nut I would obviously try to get as much penitration as possible and see if I cant work them out. Already have them soaking in PB Blaster, so offer me up ideas guy/gals!

 

I'd weld a nut on there. The captive nuts on the PPF have a self-locking feature to prevent those bolts from backing out. You need to apply some torque nearly all the way out. I'd be afraid that an easy-out wouldn't hack it and then you would have a weakened end to weld onto.

 

My idea? Raise your stupid car and not waste your time with a welded diff.

 

Thank you curly, it is raised now since I have owned it. This is the prvious owners slammage damage.

 

Just curious, what part of a roll bar install forces you to get under your car?

Also I was drilling from the bottom since I have my own lift. More room to drill from the underside up. Pretty easy to do, simply punch from inside and drill from the dimple on the back.
