Window Tinting
For those of you who don't trailer their Miata to the track, do you get your windows tinted to deal with the heat while driving to/from track events far from home? Is it bothersome on the track to have the front triangle windows tinted?

A tinter told me once that you can actually get away with 20%. I have 20% on my side windows and thought he inspector thought it was too dark, when he tested it with his electronic tint darkness tester thingie, it passed.
I like the dark tint during the day and it is hard to see in the car when it is parked especially with a window screen. At night though it is almost too dark on unlit roads. Looking through the side windows at corner apexes is difficult on a dark road.

Not as dark, but much more efficient. Best of both worlds; visibility retained with reduced interior heat.

Apparently the tolerance on the 35% law is pretty broad. I forget the range, but essentially you could get away with 20% because the range encompassed tint that dark. It is not 30% tint, too dark for that. Anyway, YMMV.

Thanks all for the tips/links. I do like the idea of ceramic tint but shops around here wanted over $300. No way I'm paying that much on a track car. I got my tint done at the same place my brother got his Civic done at. Solarize Audio Tint and Alarms. $120 for metallic 35% side windows and 20% rear window. It looks great! Hopefully it doesn't interfere much with the radar detector. I'm letting it bake in this damn heat we're having, 100*+ F.
