I wound up with a 64 ford 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree. Given how stupid I was with that car, he was probably right, I'd be dead if I had bought the other one for my first car.

My dad had a ford truck with a 460 in it. It would Roar! I was spanking camero's. then it blew up one night.
He got me a 63 straight six Falcon. It died on left turns. I would floor it to get as much speed as possible before I went into a left turn. LOL
It would only do 75 And I drove the piss out of it. It was slower than a moped.Lol
I didn't get something fast till I was 19.
Then I was drag racing everyone I could find. Lol

Your dad is smart.

I wanna join in! here's my first miata....I really wish i'd taken better pictures of this car post-wreck than i did, but taking the few i did pissed me off enough...i was pissed at myself for weeks over this wreck and it wasn't even my fault:

OP, have you crashed before? Does he have good reason to be this concerned? I managed to go off a cliff in my first miata without a turbo, although the suspension was all funky with stock springs up front and tein ss in the back.

I still want and hope to get a turbo soon, but I totally understand my parents train of thought when they are opposed to a turbo (however warped it may be).

Sorry, no pics of the wreck.

no everyone all your advice has me thinking i offered to take the turbo off to my dad he said no i wasn't aloud to touch the car at all......soo for the past couple of days ive hoofed it to work!!!! this is gay so i can"t just throw in a new fuse i'd be livin on the streets....and yeah i don't even know whats up hes more afraid of me blowin the engine up then me killing myself my dad is a plain old dusche bag! but yeah its under my moms names and she don't give a fuck she thought it was cool but my dad is just gay........i can't wait another month gaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!! i never crashed my car accident or ticket......on record....lol but pure gayness so its in my drive way looking pretty with that nice dent from who knows who in the fender.....ahhhh life is sooo fun sometimes!!!

Wow, this is funny! I hope your driving is better than your grammar. When I was 18 I lived in Germany and was driving faster than most people will ever go. But I also was more responsible than most at 18, plus have been to a few driving schools.

my parents wouldn't let me play flashlight tag after 9pm....pretty much ruined my life. Couldn't blog about it, AOL didn't exist back then.

trito 06-05-2008 04:56 PM

Move out or shut up. Problem solved.

Doppelgänger 06-05-2008 05:09 PM

Well, take all the money you're saving by not buying gas and get a new set of wheels to replace the ugly ass PepBoyz 18's

Wow...another Miata owner that's pro-2a. Everyday I like this site more and more; compared to miata.net which really can be gay.

+1

Man you're only 17 and you dare to argue about no ticket or car crash? This is nonsense! You're not even driving for 5 years, it's just normal that you don't have either and if you had just one, I'd tell you to get a fucking driving lesson!

Just wait a month, it's not a fucking year! Quit bitching your dad or else I'll think that he would have be better for him to make a stain on the bedsheet than on the earth!

p51hellfire 04-28-2009 05:14 AM

Holy shit I was an Idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol Man my grammar was horrible and look how much I bitched!!!! Almost a year later My parents have now given me MY title, and have discussed ( in a very intelligent way) with my father about turboing and He's convinced I'll learn by my mistakes. But most of all learn the mechanics of my car. Which to me is more important than just going fast. He knows I'll be boosted sooner or later but he knows now that I'll be 1 million times smarter than I was Back then!!!!!!!! Ahhh I'm so excited now!!!!!! Happy ending soo far!!! lol

SamS 04-28-2009 10:38 AM

When I was 18 and bought all of my turbo parts, my dad challenged me that I couldn't get everything installed and running before he got back from a 5-day trip. I got it done at 3am on the 4th day. He was proud of me, and having that story on my resume has helped get me two jobs so far.

you could always just swap in an unimportant fuse.

My first car was a 1987 Turbo firefly, and let me tell you, it needed that turbo just to make it up hills :P

I don't think you want a happy ending from your parents.

Cool stuff. I remember my dad telling me he how proud he was when I swapped the engine in my CSP CRX (SM2 thereafter..) since it was my first ever swap and I did it with just a handful of basic hand tools. Gave me a warm fuzzy... but not a happy ending.
