You can't actually upgrade to 2.5 from 2.17, the hardware is different IIRC.

 

Right. I was making a tragic joke about the lack of real upgrade path.

2.14 to 2.17 was free because of alternator control something or other (normally $75).
2.5 to 2.6 was $250 at one point.
2.17 to 2.6 was "trade in and get $500 off" so basically $1500 to upgrade.
