OBX helical lsd
I'm just curious if any Miata guys are running the OBX LSDs?

I'm just wondering b/c Honda guys are having really good luck with them, including myself.
Honda guys are running them in their 400-500whp cars no prob.

ITs obx, so yeah its not gonna come with instructions. Its a walk in the park for FWD tranny's but i wouldn't have the slightest clue how to set up the correct pinion angle on a RWD. Its an identical knock off of the quife design.
hmmm.. interesting. I see that they make them for honda, nissan, toyota and mazda applications, i'm sure they would have to be application specific.
someone try one out!

Not really, the differentials are pretty common its the housing and gears that change from application to application.
I don't think there's a big demand for aftermarket lsds in turbo miatas. Most 1.6s upgrade to a 1.8 driveline and then wind up with an OE torsen or rx7 clutch lsd. Good street price on the torsens is $400 and I just picked up an rx7 clutch lsd in new condition for $100. My guess is most would rather by the used OE torsen over the obx (as an unknown entity). - rob

Ya, where do you find a rx7 clutch lsd for $100 you basterd! I guess I shouldn't complain though. I went to a junk yard to upgrade my weak little 1.6 diff to a 1.8 and the dumb asses gave me a tosen by mistake. And they only charged me $450 for it with the axles and driveshaft.

look around... i bought one nearly that cheap and sold it again without ever using it for almost that cheap. I ended up getting a KAAZ instead.
PS I LOVE MY KAAZ DIFFY

eBay- actually there were two of them in same auction. The secret is to look for the large axle from the first gen. A lot don't look there and they slip on by. I just got lucky on the condition. Actually emailed the guy to ask if it had been rebuilt. Said no- just gently driven for 70k then totaled. All plates checked out to spec. I found a 1.8 open diff in the trash behind a shop which had a broken arm on it. And when I bought my first open 1.8 driveline (upgrade) they sent me a 2nd gen rx7 open diff. So I've got a lot rears. Somebody picked up a torsen chunk here for $400- that's decent deal.
More than the transmission, which breaks first.
This guy is doing 400-500 on the stock driveline. Though it's not "if" it's "when" is the trans going to break. I think he's saving grace is street tires at the strip. There have been others with big power upgrading to the 6spd with the stock rear and surviving.
