What BRAND of oil do you guys use? I'm still deciding whether i'm gonna use castrol full syn either 10w30 or 5w30 on my '90 1.6L. What about REDLINE or Mobile1? Royal Purple? What does mazda use stock?

Oh I was planning on sticking with the OEM mazda one. Unless something else is recommended otherwise?

Mobil1 0w40. Filter is an M1-104.

Mobil 1 5w40 or 5w30 I would have to check to be sure. I always use the oil filters from Mazda. I replaced every 3k miles, even before the car was boosted. Now it seems like overkill to change the oil that often, for normal aspiration, but old habits die hard.

Well mine is running 5psi from apparently a 16G snail and the orig. motor with 209km. I know it's burning oil, I got a shat-load of blue smoke and I've got smoke coming out of my dipstick hole with engine running. I bought the car like this looking for a daily driver for the summer and onwards. Right now it's sitting in the garage. The guy I bought it from was a mazda mechanic who wanted to track it. Everything looks so custom'd and cheap, like the turbo oil feed line that was brake line with compression fittings(which I broke and am waiting to get a stainless braided replacement). I want to do things and treat this car and engine right.

bad rings or bad PCV valve. check pcv valve first

M1 5w30 and OEM filters but I think I'm going to try RP next time around just for ***** and giggles.

I run redline 10-30 or 10-40 depending on the time of year. I don't run redline in my daily vehicles, but I do in the Miata and anything else that I have raced throughout the years. It's just too expensive for daily vehicles.

ok, we all use 30 or 40 weight depending on the temps...case closed.
