Default The original KLiata will live on

The klze that’s getting rebuilt from my mx6

The old KLiata is torn down and ready for its new home

Hey guys. Figured I’d post some of this stuff on here to share with all of you. I’m sure a lot of you know about mark snell KLiata back in the day. Well the new owner is parting it out to do a k swap after it’s been sitting for a while and I got lucky enough to pick it all up. Coming from the mx6 KL platform over the last 10 years I’m hoping my experience will get me making 225whp with he stock manifold and bottom end. The klze is currently being rebuilt. Just gotta get the block ultrasonically cleaned. End goals with this are to build the block. Modify another set of built and ported heads. Custom manifold. Either single 6266 or twin 5558 turbos. And up near 700whp. Where I’ll end up is anyone’s guess.

Good to see you getting active in the forum again. We have talked a few times at your work about my motor build. Look forward to seeing your build progress.

I’m picking up an ms3x again and building a full custom harness for the way I’m setting this up. I already have a megasquirt in it I need to sell.

And i I do not work at Tork Motorsports anymore. I left to go back to college and am doing my own stuff on the side now

Worth a shot haha. I have this Haltech/IGN1A/LMS-EFI motorsports harness sitting here for a KL and it feels bad.

Are these fwd? The only KL swaps Ive seen before are longitudinally mounted, with an adapter plate to the miata bellhousing.

The cars that the kL comes from are all fwd. mx6. 626. Ford probe. Etc. I’ve had 2 kL powered cars and have 2 klze sitting here so I figured I may as well stick with my favorite motor. Even if it doesn’t make as much power as others. Goal with the car is to make single digits in the 1/4 while still being road raceable. No autocross for me

Yes. If you look up “mark snell KLiata” or just “kliata” on YouTube you will find a couple. It’s the light blue one

There is/was someone on miata.net putting an M62 on their KL miata. Seems a nice idea to me.

Alright guys. Been awhile since any updates and so far still not much. I officially have the entire swap kit in my garage. I got the shortblock rebuilt and ready to go. But I sold my daily and bought a new daily which still is yet to be driveable so miata has been on daily duty. I also left the performance shop to go back to school so money has been tight for the time being.

But enough of the not so good. Let’s go over the updates

first. Here is the motor currently

a miata buddy who I tuned is upgrading to a massive turbo and is giving me his gt2860rs. So that means the turbo choice is settled. Twin 2860s. I will be ordering my welder next month so I will be able to start fabricating some parts for people to help speed things up for me. I have a new cluster blank on the way for the new gauge cluster I’ll be building

as soon as me and the wife get her built speed3 back up and running after some unfortunate events. I can finally get started fixing the daily the rest of the way. As soon as that is done. The bp is coming out. I will get the rest of the shortblock components on the car and get the short block mounted in the car!

stick around for updates coming soon. Sorry to keep everyone waiting. Life priorities took over

im planning to make some YouTube videos of the build process so keep an eye out for those on my channel “Mystique Motorsports” I’ll have some updates of my wife’s car in there as well

I'm thinking it's going to be a little difficult to spool twin 2860s with the available displacement.

I'd bet a 3 cylinder 1.25 litre half a KL would flow about as much air as a BP. Maybe more.

The design of this motor is not to be confused with the garbage we normally work with.
