Get them powdercoated.
I think it's not about changing the look but that the heating with powder-coating might weaken the metal.

i paint my wheels every 4 months or so,
i get bored with the color,

simply take them off the car
tape up the tire, or use index cards around the rim
then sand a little bit, make sure its all flat and pretty.
u can spray a fine coat of primer,
then do like 3 coats of paint

black grill paints is good
or any color
then add maybe 1-2 layers of gloss to protect them

it costs me no more than 20 dollars to change to any color i want
and takes no more than 2 hours

good luck, and take pictures

ps,,, the current rims i have were painted from gold to what they are now by me using the above method

If you are looking for long term durability get them powder coated, but if you don't mind respraying the wheels every so often paint them.

Not true, shop around man. I just got my wheels sandblasted and powdercoated for $40 a wheel, which is not bad at all.

Before you write the finish off, get a cheap electric toothbrush, some toothpaste, and spend a few hours brushing the wheels. You'll be surprised at how much of that brake dust crap comes off.

My Nickels still look OK after a year, and I didn't wash them for 3 months at one point.

Nickels. Before and after. Axxis ultimate brake pads after like.. 4 months of no washing.
Clean your wheels real well, wax them with some kind of synthetic wax polymer or w/e you can get. Get less dusty brake pads for normal street driving if you care that much.

**** picture i know but I painted mine with graffiti paint. That stuff is designed to eat into metal and stay there.

I used an etch primer and some montana black.

I honestly think my nickels look as good (if not better) with a thin layer of Hawk dust on them. Makes them look bronze.

I've been telling my g/f that for a while now. They look awesome at night in street lamps with the layer of dust on them.

i like how you homos all drop $400 to change the wheel color. I've spraypainted like 3 sets of wheels, and never had to touch them up and no one has ever been the wiser.

I like how you're the power bottom, yet you call everyone else homos.
