NA6C- Guy,
I did the intake pick-up on the cold side because of the A/C,P/S all that stuff thats hard to get to, and because intake air temps are lower that side i.e (no exhaust manifold)....................Glad you like the copper oil lines. |
So many clean miata engine bay!!!!!!

mine's clean in the sense that it's not cluttered, but not in the sense that it's been scrubbed down.
Attachment 207542 my next project is to use probably some dryer hose to loop under the hot side intercooler charge pipe and get the filter out from behind the radiator. I also have COPS to install. I'm also going to go make a list, cause you guys are giving me lots of ideas. |

No, low on the frame is not preferable. Mine worked great, and wasn't even as well designed as Splitime's. It worked even better than the damn-near-solid MMR mounts I had, and didn't transmit as much vibration to the chassis (massive understatement).
Think about the rotation of the engine. The head is much further from the crankshaft's centerline than the location of the engine mounts. This setup makes no sense from the point of view of being effective. The engine doesn't just shift to the right, it actually raises itself from the torque and that is where the strap, the way it is, does absolutely nothing. |

Have you watched a car like ours on the dyno recently? The Majority of movement is rotation towards the passenger side. I'm done... it works and was cheap. It isn't even on the car anymore, it was just to help isolate a vibration, which it didn't do. It DID minimize motor movement though. |
Here's mine......looks pretty crappy compared to some:

Work of art, Rotornut! Nice attention to detail.

It's actually bolted in now and fit where it should be. Exhaust is done all the way to the diff and I hope to finish that this weekend. Then I just need to redo some brake lines that I bent to shit and do some temp wiring (OBDII port for troubleshooting and temp ECU mount) to get it running before I put the dash back in. Gotta get it done soon as the weather is turning, golf season is close, and I need to get to the course FAST. Frank |

Frank, that looks awesome! After riding in our local LS1 Miata, I believe you'll be able to get where ever you want as fast as you want, that thing was insane... |
Engine shot as seen last weekend at the dyno day thanks to rotornut. Looking OE, sort of. Hard ignore the eBay air filter, cam gears and purple bov. :giggle:

Not my car, but while it's paint was being ruined beyond recognition I added some go fast parts to it:
Couple intercoolers, an extra AC condensor, badass never before seen triple exhuast, super roof downforce trans am spoiler. There's a turbo above the box that says "Nic" on it that should have gotten thrown on for more fastness not hit block coolness Attachment 207070 Behold the awesome mess that is my garage: Attachment 207071 |

Here are some of my car.
The engine bay is dirty as hell, if global warming ever lives up to it's reputation I'll spend the time to getting it clean again. Attachment 207066 Attachment 207067 Attachment 207068 Here's one where it's sort of clean... Attachment 207069 |
