Default Question about Torsen LSD

Ok I have a question about converting the Torsen into my 90 miata..

I was under the impression that to make the swap ill need the pumpkin, halfshalfts, driveshaft, and the 1.8 housing as well..

However while reading braineack's FAQ page he said only the pumpkin, halfshafts, and driveshaft is needed, he said nothing about the housing, or did he just mean the housing included as the pumpkin?

I thought the housing and the pumpkin are the same thing?

Common terminology is that the aluminum piece is the housing and the steel piece with all the gears inside is the "Pumpkin"

You can often find a 1.8 housing on eBay for relatively cheap. I see only one there right now, for $199. That's too much. While you've got it apart, replace the side seals where the axles go in. Cheap & easy.

You'll also need new bolts & nuts & lockwashers to attach the propshaft to the differential flange. Your 1.6 diff uses 8mm bolts, the 1.8 diffs require 10mm bolts. I think the ones I bought were 25mm long, which was more than enough.

Also, if you can find the halfshafts with the hubs still attached, this makes like a bit easier. The 1.8 hubs are a direct bolt-on and your brake calipers will fit fine, though you might have to trim the backing plate just a tad with a dremel in one spot. This way to don't have to worry about breaking that huge axle nut free and pressing the axles out of the hubs.

www.planetmiata.com gave me great prices on the half-shafts.
