Recommend me a sandwich plate (off topice to gauges)
 

want to get a sandwich plate that will replace my oem oil to water cooler once i get the fm thermostat cooler.

if you don't know the fm is designed to use the stock cooler as a spacer or you have to buy a spacer from them/have one made. was going to use a sandwich plate as the spacer so i could run my oil presser and temp gauge senders off of it.

They sell a spacer? I called them prior to installing my FM oil cooler kit and they just suggested I bypass the water lines at the stock cooler.

I've already got my OP sensor in the block, and OT in the pan, so I just need a blank spacer.

Yeah, when you buy the 1.6 model of their thermostat plate, you get an aluminum spacer that is dimensionally identical to the 1.8 oil-water exchanger. (They also send a 1.8-length threaded tube.)

So just ask 'em for that spacer.

Or, you could always leave the stock cooler in place. If you DD this car, it's nice to have it there as a preheater.

In my battle to bring the coolant temps down, I'd prefer to remove the heat load from the cooling system.

John and I told you what to do yesterday. Just keep the stock cooler and you will continue to win at life, just don't hook it up.

you where to busy playing forza 3 and petting you cat. i need somewhere to hook up my temp and op. instead of the space you got from fm or the oem cooler i was going to use the sandwich plate that wags has on his car but they are no no longer on egay when he looked last night. so i have to find one.

Put the sensor probe in the pan or get a #10 union with a port in it. Their out there, and I think LRE in Irving has them.

You may also be about to double stack plates on top of the stock cooler.

Do it right.

No? I think it's accessible with the engine in the car. Too dark and wet outside to check right now.

Yep. that's where the stock OP sender was.

It's easy, drill into the passenger side of the pan. The oil pan holds the real temp reading .

just leave the stock out and ignore the dash gauge?

metal in oil? or just drain it and it's only a few flake so who care?

Yes, and let the oil drain out the hole. There is a screen on the pump neck and a filter to keep metal out. Be a man. Buy omori gauges too...or buy my orange greddy oil temp gauge so I can replace it with an omori.

You could just cut it, no spacer needed.
