It is, but I lack the patience for such things. My gay light strips on the roll bar was much easier and I'm sure cheaper.

I can appreciate this idea. After idiot GA drivers almost rear-ending me on a constant basis, something brighter and mounted higher is needed. I've had my own idea for a while, but just haven't gotten a chance to really work on it. I say good job.

You guys have to have the worst drivers in America over in GA/ATL area. Any time I take a trip to that side of town, or see a GA driver over here, they are doing 90, tailgating people and cutting in and out of big trucks.

Yup... Either that or they're in the fast lane doing 40.
Or it's a mom in an Excursion talking on the phone, sipping coffee, reading her book, putting on make-up, and telling her 1.3 kids to stop yelling. And that's right before she plows into the back of a stopped car and claims she had "no idea how that happened".

The funny thing is, the first post after the OP had the exact same idea.

I did the same thing, but I caculated it at 12vdc. Burnt out a bunch. I then used 15VDC in my calculation, it was a little dimmer, but no burnt out LEDs. When I do it again, I'm thinking about using a voltage regulator to get a constant output.
When was the last time you randomely walked out to your car and decided you were going to spend 400 hours creating a new rear tail light assembly because your brake lights just didn't quite look right?
