so my buddies are trying to talk me into a blower
The big difference at the same HP level will be torque. The midrange torque of a turbocharged car is beautiful on a street car. A turbo will feel faster than an SC at a given HP level on the same motor. And a well designed turbo system needn't suffer from noticeable lag, you just can't dog the motor. Drive it like you want power, i.e. from 3-7K, and you'll have boost as fast as you could need it. Well, assuming you aren't an autox *****.
i am going s/c because i like the delivery of it. the turbo was nice, but the car didn't handle like a miata anymore and i started to miss the tossability. honestly, if you can tell the diference in a 210hp miata and a 240 or 250hp miata, you've got a sensitive butt.
as for turbos, corky is the master. you can't go wrong with his stuff.

Fritch - IIRC, you had a M45 right? We're talking MP62 here.
If your goal is 250HP, even with that killer deal of $2500 for a MP62 with an AA IC, I think you'd be better off with a turbo.
I recently dynoed 207, 209HP with Moss' new MP62 outlet manifold running 11.4 PSI. I don't even want to know how much money I have in my car had I had to pay retail for everything including all the dyno time.
From my current power level, anything more would mean exponentially higher cost.
If you care about the driving characteristics, then I say you should test drive a SC car as well as a turbo car that has the power level you are looking for.

Go turbo!! Man the sound alone is worth it, haha.
+im a cheapass and upgrading a turbo setup is alot cheaper than doing so with a supercharger.
Either way, boost it quick...

I think the reason everyone is "only" getting 200 (ish) whp is because everyone (almost) is basing their builds off of a T25 turbo. If you want more power then you need a bigger one simply put. A t3 would put down a little more, or a properly sized t3/t4 would put down enough to throw some stock rods and still have "decent" spool. I think most people get the small turbo because they want a more instant response and street power. Big boost hitting is fun as ****, but it can be scary if its not in a straight line.
Also, 200whp in a miata is pretty damn fast already.

If proven reliability is of concern, go with the turbo. As Corky would say, "when is the last time a supercharger won at Le Mans?"
If you are even in the area, you are welcome to drive my car (after it is fixed). It hit a stationary object.

you do realize that when you have 250whp you will be spanking almost any 3000-3300 lb car with 300-380 hp right? You will probably make your friends mod their cars even more once you spank them left and right lol
I have driven just about everything at the BEGi stable. If you can not get the MOAB go with the turbo. The MOAB feels like a V8 with alot of power. The turbo puts you into the back of your seat all at once.
(hello, I need an angel smiley!)Besides, I needed an excuse to upgrade suspension.
