Does the excedy stage 1 compare with the Spec stage 3?
I need as many comments as i can get about clutches, my car needs
one and i don't wanna get a stock replacement because i'm planning on boosting it by late march. I'm aiming for 200hp but i'm sure i'll get to a point where i wanna raise the boost...
any opinions greatly appreciated...
Spec:
stage 1 is organic
stage 2 is kevlar
stage 3 carbon

There's been mixed results with Spec here. ACT probably has the most positive remarks. I'm running an ACT pp with a clutchnet puck disc which is almost through the break in- no probs so far. There are others here that are running ebay clutch packages with success too. Lots of recent threads.
He did...sorta ACT > Spec unless you absolutely can not stand the pedal pressure.
pedal pressure builds character. Drive a mustang and see what I mean.
Overall consensus here is that SPEC is not living up to the TQ promises...however the III might hold anything just as well as the ACT XT, gotta buy it to try it.

Ask three people their opinions on what the "best" clutch is and you'll get three different answers. Read here and on m.net, form your own opinion. Given a large sampling of opinions you'll find there is no concensus. for example. For every story you hear of someone having trouble with a specific clutch you'll find another person praising it.
i'd figure i would ask here rather than m.net since not everyone is turbo'd in that forum.
Braineack, I'm questioning the spec because other ppl mentioned the same exact thing, they are not living up to the TQ specified.
Miatamania, you ever tried doing a search on a clutch lately? you get just about every thread and you always get redirected and waste a good amount of time, i've been searching for weeks now and when i finally decided to get the Spec 3 thats when the doubtness raised and i got fustrated just to think that i'm so close to buying a clutch and now i'm not buying it, i can't buy something if i'm not sure of it... i'm only asking for advice here...

I'm trying to convince myself to go with ACT, but I don't want to deal with the shitty pedal position. Its not the firmness of the pedal, its the position. You have to smash it into the carpet or it won't disengage.
the one you drove was obviously set up poorly. you think so many people would like it if they were all like that? mine starts to engage about 3" off the floor, which is nothing to complain about.

- that's about the worst scenario: pressing the crank against the thrust bearing in a static state and then spinning everything up with no lube or oil pressure.
