Evil lurks in the Air filter
So we've been trouble shooting a bog on a car for two weeks. We replaced O2 sensor, plugs, and wires. We checked the Crank angle sensor, CAS wires, and EGR to no avail. We were starting to take everything off the car to do a thorough check. Larry is taking the compressor inlet tube off when he sees something move inside the air filter. Further investigation reveals a two inch piece of rubber that had been flopping around inside the air filter. It looks like something that did not come off when they were making the air filter. So I am thinking someone at K & N is gonna get hurt.
Who would have ever thought something is stuck in the air filter? This stupid piece of rubber would make the car stall, fall flat on it's face under boost, and not start. Here I am thinking that the people that just replaced the transmission screwed something up and we're gonna have to pull the transmission too. (and with good reason, they lost the turbo support brace, downpipe cross bolt, and moved heat shields where they don't belong.) But NO, it's this stupid piece of rubber. My e-mail to the owner of the car went something like "you're not gonna believe this, but..."
