Yes, because your turbo's sized such that you can spool with lower mass airflow than a big turbo can. For autox you need to be able to make upper 300s rwhp or more. If you're only making 200-ish then you're running a little baby turbo that can spool at low 2000s RPMs.
Probably not, but I'd love to hear why I'm wrong. Custom cams with a stock bottom end? I could see it if OP wanted to run a small turbo and do headwork to keep torque up at the top end, but with a centrifugal SC that won't be a problem. C30-94 is the same price as the C30-74, so I don't understand why someone would do the 74 plus cams instead of just running the 94 with stock cams.
Because with properly setup cams you will pick up power EVERYWHERE on a supercharged car. I gained more HP and torque with cams than I gained going from a Eaton at 14 psi to a larger Whipple at 24.
Clearly I missed this SC vs. Turbo debate as I was busy getting my car setup and tuned. However I will chime in with my dyno plot and dick waving. This is a car that is built for autox and street driving. Likely to do track days soon after some more supporting mods (coolant reroute etc). I have an MP62 running on a stock 95 motor. Supporting mods include TDR intercooler, 72mm throttle body, MS, 130/62.5 pulleys, Jackson Racing Header, CAT delete, and full exhaust. Now I am not yet building the motor (though I have a spare for that purpose) but I have a fairly conservative safe tune and I am pleased with my results. I picked the kit up used for a reasonable price and have run with it. I originally planned to go turbo and I also see the advantages for both systems. I believe I am at about the limit for the stock engine and transmission and hope I don't find out. But it is good to have spares.
I gotta say: I'd be lying if I said I didn't at least somewhat enjoy driving my MP62 setup. The whole "big engine feeling" comment is pretty much spot on, that's what it felt like. However, the "sling shot" torque onset of a turbo is just as, if not slightly more fun.

I am already starting to budget for engine build and have a spare 99 motor sitting in the garage for that purpose. And after the motor is built and I have the bigger injectors some higher boost and E85 might be happening. I wouldn't mind a relatively reliable 250+whp SC setup. (and no it isn't cheap to get there! but neither is doing a turbo set up properly)
