Default Suspension is finally done

finally after waiting for shocks for over a month now they finally came in. Heres the run down on parts.

Fat Cat Motorsports bump stops
homemade shocks mounts
ebay coilover sleeves
Ground Control springs 375/300
KYB AGX shocks

had to knock off the metal rings off of the shocks to make way for the sleeves and put some rubber shims behind the sleeves to keep them from jiggling around. put some rubber rings under and ontop of the springs and had to cut off about 3/4" off of the rear sleeves and about 2.5" off of the front sleeves to allow the bump stops to work. Also made some spring hats on the bottom of the shock mounts to help keep the spring seated cause i know they like to move too over the big bumps. finally got them done.

Cool. Will they adapt easily to Koni Sports when you realize the KYBs can't hold a candle to those spring rates?

agx's i have heard can handle up to 500 and the koni's 550.

just wish they were rebound adjustable too so i wont bouce around everywhere. nothing can be worse than 450/350 with stock shocks and even then i didnt have a problem with it untill i give it hell. oh and i have about $500 total tied up into my suspension, i believe sports alone cost over that. around 550. the stock ground control spring rates are 375/250 anyways, so i am no higher than that and aloot of people do the gc/agx combo with ok results. going with sports is the best but its sooo ******* much money i would just go with some tein flex's or somthing

Most guys set them to 7 on stock shocks, or so I've heard. It can handle it, sure, but you really want more valving. 550s on Sports is pushing it. Most guys who run 550 in the front for STS2 are revalving to RACE specs.

Sports are around $450 shipped. A bit more than a hundred more than KYBs. I always tell people that if you've got the money for Konis, get Konis, and if you don't, get KYBs.

I've got around $1700 tied up in my suspension, nearly a thousand dollars in just shocks, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Best $1700 I've spent on the car.

I absolutely love mine. Insane transitional response, and it allows enough compression so I can throw the car over curbs at racetracks and it just eats it up. The problem I have now is that the chassis flexes so much over driveways the hardtop pops and creaks like it's about to get popped off the car. I need to install some FM frame rails.

If I were autocrossing more seriously, I would stiffen the frame and add an MSM 14mm rear sway bar. My car as-is is very, very stable at high speeds, but it pushes pretty badly under 30mph.

I was thinking of making some similar top mounts like that to get some more shock travel back. I realized today that the PO reused the tophats when he put in the GR2s and H&R springs because the passenger side is held on by regular bolts, I sure hope they are a high grade . By any chance could you share the dimensions?
