Through a rod threw the block, what options?
Ok guys I had a boosted 1.8 96, is the 1.8 block the only one that will bolt back up? If so its fine just wanted to look at my options. I was thinking maybe a speed block or something to that extent.
thanks, Jason |
Just collect all the bits of the block from the side of the road and JB weld it back together.
|
Get a 2jz. I hear they'll bolt right in!
|
So, exactly what is a speed block?
|
It the fast one. I hear it's better than that Type R block. Or the M edition block.
|
I thought the speed block was the one with speed holes in it. Sounds like the op is just a few more holes away from having a DIY speedblock.

Options? ......... You have a whole, in your block ...Evaluate why it happened, Replace your engine, only option. Its not a Honda, so there is no "Frankenstien Swap" or Magic Beans under the hood of another car.

The problem is he doesn't have a whole block.
he has a hole in the block. See the difference? One is correct grammar, the other is not. |
install the 5.7 block
I hear it works wonders |
So you took THIS: https://www.miataturbo.net/general-m...-higher-78194/
And ran ALLOFIT until it popped. I guess you don't need to worry about that squeal anymore. :bowrofl: |
The moar it squealed the harder he got.

Any B series engine will bolt to your transmission. That includes the ones installed in the Ford Escort, the Kia Sephia, etc. Ideally, you'll grab a BP, which is the specific 1.8 engine used in the '94-'97 Miata, so that all of your accessories and manifolds will bolt right up. I'll defer to Wikipedia for a specific listing of potential donor vehicles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_B_engine#BP Basically, anything from the list above will work, presupposing that you swap all of the accessories and manifolds over from your old engine. |
Joe,
