Default Trouble with Enthuzacar

Enthuzacar cannot be trusted to meet their commitments. You should look elsewhere for your Miata exhaust system needs.

On 21 October 2019, I spoke to Jason on the phone. We talked about what I wanted, and I placed my order online that evening. I paid via PayPal. I still do not have my system.

I attempted multiple communications via my cell phone, my office phone, text from my cell, my personal email address, and my company email address. I do not have logs of calls from my office phone, but none were answered. Enthuzacar's business phone number does not have a voice mailbox setup, so you can't leave a voice message. Not a great way to run a business.

Here is a timeline of our communication, or lack thereof. Again, it does not include attempts from my office phone. I had not heard from Jason for three weeks after placing my order, so I decided to reach out and get an update.

14 Nov. Text message. No response.
15 Nov. Email from my business address.
16 Nov. Jason responded via email stating he'd got my text. He has everything he needs to start my system. He'd been really busy with aircraft inspections.

Fine. My track season was over now, so I wasn't in any hurry to get my system. My next event was at least three months away. I still should have been more on top of this. After all, he had my money. I began looking for another update in early December.

9 Dec text. No response.
12 Dec email from my business address. No response.
17 Dec email from my business address. No response.
17 Dec call from my cell. No answer.
25 Dec text. I wished him a Merry Christmas. No response.
6 Jan email from my business address. No response.
10 Jan call from my cell. No answer.
11 Jan email from my personal address. No response.
11 Jan call from my cell. No answer.

13 Jan. I had decided I was going to make a PayPal claim. I gave him one more call, and lo and behold, he answered. Said I'd have my system soon.

I called a few times from my office phone after that, wondering when I would receive the exhaust. No answer.

On 30 January, I'd had enough. He'd had over three months to fulfill my order, and now I was a month out from my first event of 2020. I was going to keep calling and texting until I got a response.

30 Jan personal email. No response.
30 Jan multiple calls from my cell. No answer.
30 Jan text answered. Jason claimed he was sick with the flu. I said fine. Just refund my money and we'll move on. No response to that text, or two follow-on texts.

31 Jan. We exchanged several text messages. In the span of an hour or so, Jason said he had a concussion; he can't get into his PayPal account; he can't remember his PayPal password; he hasn't slept in a couple of days; he can't get on the computer; his hands are shaking he can't get on the computer. I told him I would draft a negative review if I didn't have my refund asap.

On the evening of 1 Feb, I texted Jason and told him I'd give him until the evening of 2 Feb to refund my money. I stated that on Monday, 3 Feb, I would start posting my detailed review of Enthuzacar on every Miata website I could find. He replied "OK".

2 Feb. Jason responded to a text stating again he can't remember his PayPal password due to his concussion. I told him to reset his password. It's easy. Not an acceptable excuse. We exchanged a handful of texts. Next he said he was locked out of his account. I told him I'd give him the business day of 3 Feb to get into his account and refund my money. If I didn't have my refund by the evening of the Third, I'd start posting my review.

3 Feb. I sent him a couple of texts before he finally responded. He texted he was sorry and that he couldn't work on his computer right now.

Here we are. It's 4 February. He's had my money for three-and-a-half months.

I believe I've been quite patient. Maybe too patient. That's why I posted the whole timeline. He should not have taken my order in the first place, but once he realized he was not going to be able to do the work, he should have notified me and refunded my money. He cannot be trusted to fill paid customer orders.

Well, that sux.

PayPal can refund you up to 180 days from payment date, so you are good.

File an item not received case, they will give him 10 days to furnish a tracking number, if he doesnt respond with a tracking number, you get your money back.

If he hustles up and ships you the exhaust, and something is wrong with it since he rushed it, file a not as described case and get money back. Only catch is you have to ship it back on your dime.

I received an email from PayPal this morning that my case had been closed. They were unable to get any new information from Enthuzacar, so they refunded my money. I went to the Enthuzacar website. It looks like business as usual.

Both my Miatas have Jason's systems. I installed the one on my track car back in 2013. It had about 140 track days on it, supercharged since the middle of 2015, and it was spent. I'll bet there isn't a molecule of packing left in either the resonator or the muffler. It's so loud my wife unit swears she can hear me go through the gears almost a mile away when I leave for the track. It was time to get another one from Jason, but it didn't work out.

Wow. If he did legitimately have a concussion that bad then yikes.

I know Jason personally, and he's really had a hard time. His concussion was bad, and his entire right side was heavily bruised when I checked on him in person after having the same issues as you. The best solution is likely what you did through paypal, and it would be wise for everyone to seek another source for exhausts, at least for the time being. Hopefully he recovers and gets back to it soon.

Just spoke with Jason.
Yes he was injured "quite severely" and is working on recovery.
He hopes to get started on backorders (like mine which is going on 19 weeks and just waiting on hangers) "soon".
Ours is not an industry that is nice to being injured or sick, and he has my best wishes.
To add insult to injury his shop was flooded during the bad southern storms a few weeks ago.
I will wait, but obviously I'm patient and understand how life changing events can delay the best intentions.
He has provided a great specialized customizable product as a side job for many years has many thankful customers that wish him well.

Give him my best wishes, from just a past customer and fellow miata and auto enthusiast. The exhaust gets tons of compliments, ans has never blown the sound limit at AutoX

I wish him well, too, but in the end, he just can't abscond with nearly a thousand dollars of my money. I don't care if Bernie Sanders gave him AIDS... he shouldn't have taken my order.

Update, Jason is melting metal again, received my muffler today.
Took "quite a long time" but he delivered even after everything he went through.
Changed to the little bity 3" as the Approved muffler was just too quite for me on track with a helmet on.
This thing is mellow deep below 4K then barks above. This is with EFR turbo, full 3" and no cat. Not perfect if you have a street car but sounds great on a dual use toy.

Does anybody know what the status of Enthuza is these days? The website has an out of date SSL.

I discovered that my Enthuza metal core cat honeycomb has evaporated. I would love to shoot him some more money for a new one.

Just messaged him, he says he's still in business.

I just ordered off the website. He E-mailed me when he got the order and when he shipped. It took ~3 weeks, so he still seems pretty busy, but I'm patient with sole proprietors who provide really nice, niche products.

Crazy to hear about his accident- it was a few years ago. But as someone who has a type of epilepsy that directly affects memory (as in losing it), I can relate to the frustrations of forgetting things that should seem simple....and the stress of being aware of it (I joke that it's like having Alzheimer's, but being aware of it). He made exhausts for both the MSM and my PO '02SE.....and all is top-notch. But, that was long before his accident.

I've actually been keeping him in mind for when I want to go full 3" on the MSM.

Jason's a stand-up guy, really. Sucks to hear people having issues. I wish the assfuckery I was handed back from Race Engineering was as easy to deal with. I'll eventually post a list/pictures of the **** I was handed back after them have possession of my car for 6 months on 2 occasions....and being told "Don't kill it warranty's up brother!!" ON MY WAY HOME FROM PICKING UP THE CAR.

Has anyone heard from them recently, Facebook says they were moving to a new shop in September 2021, and I ordered a 3" exhaust earlier in the year in May of 2021, I have not gotten any replies to emails, and phone keeps going to a "mailbox is full" message.

Yeah I would not expect an exhaust to ever show up.
