Default Troubleshooting Assist

I did a complete engine rebuild on my 1990 1.6. It is still n/a. During some of my engine break-in, the wiring that runs to my throttle position sensor and idle air control valve became too friendly with the alternator pulley. These wires shorted out and instantly turned off the car. The in-cab fuse "room" burned but was the only one. After repairing the wires by cutting out the shorted bit and soldering them slightly shorter, I replaced the fuse. When I reconnected the battery, the fuel pump sounded on regardless of whether the key was in the ignition or not. The car also would not start. It would not start with spraying a small bit of starting fluid into the intake, eliminating lack of fuel as the only issue. I tested the TPS and it still gives signal correctly. When it didn't start, it would not give a lasting CEL to check. I replaced the ECU with a Speediuno because while I know MS3 is the preferred option, it was outside my price range. I think I did the install correctly for the firmware and the base tune, but that did not completely fix it, and I have no way to prove it's installed correctly. This is just about the maximum extent of troubleshooting that I can do alone.

I live in Silverdale, in Kitsap County of Western Washington State.
Before I take this in and pay out of my *** to get it running, does anyone have any suggestions for things I can do?
Is anyone near enough to take a look and maybe pull my chestnuts out of the fire?
My mechanical abilities far out-strip my electrical ones, and I'm out of my depth.

First off, remove the Speeduino and go back to OEM.

If you have an electrical issue, the last thing you want to do is change the ECU (or other electrical stuff) since you'll just end up making more problems that you cant trace.



Go back to OEM, exactly how it was when the issue started.

Then check everything you can.
Check fuses with a multimeter, not by eye.
Check the resistance of the TPS matches what it should be
Check you're still getting spark
etc etc
