Have you driven one? They shift like dogshit. I drove an LS1 FD w/ T56 a few years ago and it felt so slow and clunky compared to my stock FD Mazda trans.

EDIT: and Canadian
You say it like I am embarrassed about it.. or an insult? lol...

Yeah I have, believe it or not. There is one 20 feet behind me. It works fine. The other one (that is near double stock power and torque) works fine too. The others that I have driven (1000whp turbo cars) work fine as well.

Leave my dream alone.

You drove a poorly swapped car, that does not speak for every one ever made.

That's for you to decide.

Holy ****, dude. Just quite.

It's smooth enough to be used on a TON of cars from Z06 vettes, to cobras, to ever single viper starting from 1992.

It's a great trans and I have driven a lot of them. I have not encountered one yet that I would not pick over my current miata trans or any other miata trans I have driven.

8.4 viper v10 w/ t56 = My dream miata drive train.

I get it. You like it! I don't. The world wouldn't be the same if we all agreed all the time. Hardly any salt.. but thanks for trying.

Have fun on your one man island

You're the only person I have ever heard complain about the T56, then again you did drive a poorly swapped car that probably had a beat to death LS T56 and not the buttery smooth, superior viper T56.

So I just noticed, you have not listed your dream drive train. Contribute to the thread, please.

An "LSx" from the Pratt and Miller Corvette C6RS, it's punched out to 8.2 liters and sounds like ******* thundersex.(hear it here) For the trans, I'd just go T56.

I'd also like to try out a Mopar 360c.i. V8 in a miata. It's a OHV engine like the ford 5.0 and chevy LSx so I think it would fit.

My dream drivetrain has already been posted. N/A peripheral ported 20B w/ Quaife gearset in stock box, although stock gears would handle the power just fine. Easy 400+whp that revs like a formula car.

I always wanted to make a custom frame for a kelmark GT and put that very drivetrain in it...

Wow. 'Lotta different ideas. I thought there would be a few different engines with followers fighting for their engine god. I was thinking something like a modern NASCAR engine (with injectors instead of carbs) because its got a load of power and I would think its relatively pretty responsive. Thats for a surgical track weapon. I'd go with a Merlin V12 from a P-51 if I was going for badassery.

When I'm bored with the Miata/done with it, I am going to buy another FD shell and do a 20b, although more likely than not just a street port with ITB's. 350whp for a weekend car is more than enough.
