WASHINGTON Miata Turbo Folk

There are quite a few new members I see poping up in Washington West of the mountains. The point of this thread is to get some of us together and meet up for random events/drives or to get help from one another when needed, or grab some beers and talk miata. Just a thread to get all us local Washington folk connected. So if you are in Washington speak up!

I live in Shorewood (Between seattle and burien)

Where in Kent do you work. Im on 196th just off west valley

Besusjesus 02-12-2018 10:46 AM

Just moved from Issaquah to North Bend here.

Scaxx 02-12-2018 07:46 PM

I'm close to 228th and 76th, not too far!

alienmiata1 02-12-2018 10:02 PM

Wish I’d have known that a couple months ago. I was at 212th and central! We shoulda all gone for a drive!

aceswerling 02-17-2018 09:26 PM

I'm in Redmond. I'm looking forward to some warmer weather so I can really wind out the car.

@Scaxx, I believe we met at the LeMons race...

AestheticsInMotion 02-21-2018 11:02 PM

Kirkland.

I would love to meet some local Miata people, whether it's a drive, cars & coffee event, day trip, tech day, autox.... Whatever.

425 motorsports in Bellevue has a small C & C event the first saturday of each month 10:30-12:30. Diverse but small crowd. And for anyone who hasn't been inside 425 motorsports it's worth the trip for that alone

jpnMiata 02-22-2018 12:46 AM

+1 for 425 Motorsports! The owner Dan is super cool, and was super helpful in finding me a helmet and a bucket seat that fitted me. I'd love to meet up sometime but my car isn't running at the moment, hopefully that will be fixed this weekend :)

matrussell122 02-22-2018 10:07 AM

425 is a real cool shop its been years since I have been in there.

jpnMiata, You and i think most of us have our cars down for winter doing repairs and upgrades. Not that it matters since the roads are icy as shit this week.

If anyone needs a hand with their car this winter just give me a shout.

Yeah, I've only driven in the snow with my Miata once and I'm not likely to do it ever again. Here's pictures of my car after finishing my shift on Christmas Eve last year

Itty 02-22-2018 01:59 PM

Bremerton here. My Miata is still currently on jackstands, but making slow progress.

I would really like to have someone with more experience look at a few things. I've done a lot to the car but I'm still not comfortable doing more complex jobs or troubleshooting important systems...

It's been great this winter but there is a BIT of deferred maintenance

Saw these pics in another thread never put it all together you were local until now. Awesome Pics!

Send me a pm if you need help with anything.

Scaxx 02-23-2018 08:36 PM

My car is down for the winter as well while I put a cage in it as well as some other stuff. Meeting at 425 sometime would be fun, just went there last week for some seat shopping!

matrussell122 03-21-2018 04:09 PM

How is everyone coming on their projects this winter? Ready to get them back on the ground and driving?

AestheticsInMotion 03-21-2018 04:41 PM

Sound system build completed, I never would have believed our little cars could sound so great with the top down! Lots of small changes too. Put in an inverter so I don't get yelled at for having an extension cord hanging out my condo window haha

Waiting on a few packages before I completely redo my cooling system. Hoping to have everything this week, but vendors are all being super slow....

You?

wackbards 03-21-2018 04:59 PM

Waiting on an oil pump. Big pile of parts taunting me.

matrussell122 03-21-2018 05:08 PM

Bleeding brakes today and the wheels will go back on. BFW spoiler In and done. Schroth Profi II harness are installed, OMP WRC-R installed for driver and still waiting for OMP TRS-E for the passenger. Also new splitter, ducting and monster 2 speed fan that pushes 4000cfm. Then almost have all the parts to assemble the block of the race motor. Plan on building the head over the summer while Matt @ hellafab builds me a twin scroll manifold for the EFR 7163 TS

AestheticsInMotion 03-21-2018 08:22 PM

Question- is one of you rolling around in a Montego Blue with a garage vary style rear finish panel, double horizontal rollbar and low pro headlights..? Spotted on highway 202 almost daily, along with a blue and white camo NA

Oh and Matt, I need to stay away from your build thread. The boost bug is calling my name...

matrussell122 03-21-2018 09:23 PM

I'll be selling all the 1.6 turbo stuff next winter too cough cough

spotted this guy a few days ago. Please tell me it's none of you. And sorry for the cappy phone pic.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...90c6249bbc.jpg

My tired 1.8 is probably about at 1.6 power levels...

Oh god. A little warning next time.

Scaxx 03-21-2018 10:02 PM

Been dragging my feet at getting my cage done and seats mounted, but I finished cutting up my rear shelf/seat belt towers the other night. Now I need to bust ass on my cage and just get it done. I was supposed to have the car back on the ground by April but that looks to be a stretch

Yeah I saw your IG pics of the shelf, one big grinder slip haha. Im free to help in 10 weeks after the fire academy but that probably wont help much being well into the nice weather by then.

Scaxx 03-22-2018 11:24 PM

Hopefully I'll have it done by then, I better! haha

AestheticsInMotion 03-30-2018 11:08 AM

Hey guys, my car was broken into last night and the interior somewhat stripped. If you see anyone trying to sell two 4 point Schroth ASM harnesses, two red bride knockoff buckets (slightly different passenger and driver), garage star seat mounts and a flat bottom Sparco wheel with yellow horn buttons... Please let me know. I've just been informed my insurance doesn't cover any of this, and I'm unsure of what else to dohttps://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a08296597e.jpg

Dude that sucks I'll keep an eye out. Good luck

Scaxx 03-30-2018 03:17 PM

Fuck. That sucks man. I'll keep an eye out too.

viperormiata 03-31-2018 09:05 AM

I hate people.

wackbards 04-01-2018 08:06 AM

Anyone got a spare set of NA seats floating around? My friend just bought a NB1, and she sits too low. I'm thinking I might try swapping in some NA seats and adding in spacers. Would need to be non-fomectomied seats.

they were looking out for yoir safety. 5 or 6 point harnesses only.

Progressive is one of the companies that allows for enormous amounts of additional value coverage. Pretty inexpensive too. I had my miata ensured for 20,000 dollars over nada value for 60 bucks per month on top.

zvehrs 04-01-2018 06:58 PM

Checking in from Seattle. Recently installed new coilovers, wheels and tires, pads, flushed cooling system. Looking forward to first track day of the year! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2ba72b9771.jpg

.

I was happy with schroth's ASM 4-points for street use. If I ever tracked it though two sub belts would have been installed immediately! But yeah, jokes on them. They just helped me simplify and add lightness. I never much liked the bride knockoffs anyways... Will have to find a better seat next go around

matrussell122 04-02-2018 11:50 PM

Got the car on the ground today. Need to adjust passenger seat back and down, and get the pwm fan controller working and ill be drivable. Need to get tabs too.

jpnMiata 04-05-2018 11:12 AM

Hey all, on 425 Motorsports' instagram they say they're having a cars and coffee event on Saturday the 7th 10:30 - 12:30. Anybody interested in going?

zvehrs 04-05-2018 11:56 AM

I am up for it. I was planning on going to exotics at rtc but they canceled because of rain.

AestheticsInMotion 04-05-2018 01:30 PM

If I don't have an interview in the morning I'll swing by. Fair warning, if it's anything like the last rainy day 425 meet we could end up being the only ones there.

jpnMiata 04-05-2018 02:54 PM

It would be cool to check out your cars either way, looking at how the weather is now it's probably going to be drizzly

Zajicek 04-09-2018 02:19 AM

Edmonds/Shoreline here, wish I had seen this sooner, would have gone out to 425

wackbards 04-09-2018 06:31 PM

Anybody got a spare Speedo cable? Forgot to disconnect mine and munched it during an engine swap. 5 spd / 4.1:1

**Edit** Nevermind. I bought a new one.

AestheticsInMotion 04-15-2018 12:41 PM

Anyone have an NA driver's seat they'd sell me? I need to get the Miata back on the road before I do something dumb like finance an s60r...

Scaxx 04-15-2018 01:14 PM

No extras here, sorry man

Zajicek 04-15-2018 01:29 PM

Well I don't want to turn you away from an S60R, but I might. Mine is right hand drive, so my passenger should be your driver. It'll give me an excuse to find some new seats for mine. It's got a rip across the middle along the seam, but otherwise in decent shape. Might need some leather conditioner.

jpnMiata 04-17-2018 11:49 AM

Anybody in the Kent/Renton area have a Hard Dog Double Diagonal (or similar) rollbar I can take a look at? In the market for an upgraded rollbar and I was hoping to see how the rollbar affects visibility in person.

matrussell122 04-17-2018 11:59 AM

I have one. Im thinking I might drive it to work on Thursday (weather depending) If so ill be at American Piledriving Equipment in kent 196th and West Valley Hwy

Zajicek 04-29-2018 06:59 PM

Who is a good local shop for mounting a seat properly? I'm picking up an older bride seat and I'd like to mount my side pieces directly to the floor.

matrussell122 04-29-2018 07:30 PM

425 motorsports

Scaxx 04-30-2018 12:47 AM

^Agreed

Zajicek 05-01-2018 03:00 AM

Awesome, I'll check them out. Thank you

wackbards 05-09-2018 01:00 PM

Anyone want a free truck? 83 Silverado 6.2L diesel. Had hot start problems. Been sitting for about a year. Straight body &decent paint. Might be a good one for a 350 swap. Lost title, expired tags, probably not roadworthy... The works. But free.99

Zajicek 05-10-2018 02:07 AM

I can barely keep my miata fed with parts, but that would probably be a solid tow rig if it got fixed up.
Just noticed your sig, my mom has taken to calling my brg the "pickle car" after the richard scarry books.

so 425 ballparked me at $600 to mount the seat with rails on the floor, humps removed, and provisions for the sub strap, does that seem right? Never had this kind of work done before.

matrussell122 05-10-2018 09:46 AM

Doesn't seem too outrageous. 425 is typically expensive on everything they do but they are the best in the area so it helps validate it.

wackbards 05-13-2018 12:07 AM

Anyone got a spare carpet? Mouse nest destroyed mine. Could do black or tan. If tan I only really need the floor.

Zajicek 05-13-2018 12:13 AM

Funny you should ask, just got around to taking pictures and posting mine to CL today. It's cut around the under dash area, but otherwise in good condition. Could use a vacuum from the sawdust in my garage. It's tan

wackbards 05-13-2018 12:20 AM

Sweet. Yeah. I always do the cut thing too. Link? How much you asking?

Zajicek 05-13-2018 12:23 AM

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/p...587587571.html

I was asking $50, no idea what the going rate is.
