I thought you were trying to build a 1.8? Or is this for the hail mary run for the 1.6/Greddy?

The cams came up for a good price, and I have to stay ahead of Jerry.
From what I read, I need more lift (which these provide).

should work out nice, from what i know a turbo likes more lift and not too much duration, so should work out nice. I'm very happy to see someone trying cams on these motors. are you going to be doing anything else in the head?

Nice grab. If you need help with the install, you know who to call. I'd love to help tear into a head.

Thanks Ben. I'll probably go ahead and pick up a WP, and all the related errata involved to do a full tb job, as long as the timing belt is coming off anyway.

CJ, yeah, figured I could always get my money back out of them.

I don't have them in my hands yet.

I was considering installing the exhaust cam 1 tooth retarded from stock. Thoughts? I don't want to put money into 1.6 cam gears.

I was under the impression that 1.6 and 1.8 cam gears were the same. I know fidanza only lists one part number, thats what I have. You can get them on ebay for a good price.

I've heard you can get limited adjustability by tweaking/drilling the stock gears.

Would you rather advance the exhaust cam 1 tooth to reduce overlap?

Yes, I was thinking backwards. I'd want to advance the exhaust cam 1 tooth.

I'm not finding good info on cam timing. I assume I could reduce overlap the same amount by retarding the intake cam by 1 tooth. Right? What would be the theoretical difference between those two plans?

I'm really going for more midrange torque over more upper end hp.

yaaay, finally here

the engravings in the second pic are hard to see, but they say webcams 505+2

Lift on these puppies is .352
Duration @ .050 is 200/205
Stock cams are lift .309
Duration @ .050 is 192/204

So not a huge change, as these are designed to work with the stock valve train, but the extra 1.1mm lift should help spool.

<edit> aww dammit, the attachments failed because I'm out of space :(
