So I raced this kid from work the other day who was bragging about his car that he went out and bought instead of being a man and building something. Anyway, it's a 95 trans AM LT1 6 speed, very minor mods. The dude he bought it from also works with me and he ran it in the quarter and it ran 14.0. Anyway, I told the kid that his T/A and my miata were the most even cars in the parking lot, and it would be a good race. This dude is a 19 year old punk, so of course since he has no know how, and just a credit score, those 8 cylinders flowing through a Borla Exhaust apparently warped his puny little mind; and he gets all bulked up and states "Dude I'll smoke you like theres no tomorrow." So I said "put your ***** on the table and lets F&*king go!" Anyway, we lined up on a 2 lane concrete highway "Pinks" style, and a friend played Rich Christensen, stood in the middle and dropped the arms, and then we were off. I launched at 4k and got him by 1 car from the launch...and then...disaster. I Bash 2nd gear and mash the right foot to the floor, and instant 6K (MAJOR CLUTCH SLIPPAGE) all the way through 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. He passed me and won by 5 car lengths. This cannot happen ever again to me, EVER. So here is it...I am still running a stock clutch that has maybe 116,000 miles on it? I was thinking Centerforce Dual Friction, or ACT Stage II? But those clutches cost over $430. I saw the F1 Stage 3 on e-bay with a 6 puck disc design for $165 ish and was wondering if anybody uses this clutch or has any recommendations for a clutch that can take hard launch abuse that I give to it.
