Default What kind of oil for a turbo

Ok I was wondering what everyones using for weight.

Do I have to run expensive oil or is there an under 6-7 dollars alternative.

Thanks

I have used Castrol GTX 5w-30 since I owned my car, and I change it every 3,000 miles. It's been turbo'd for over 30,000 miles with no issues.

^^^ I used that in my last 2 Talons. Also Brad Penn 10-30, which is what I'm using in the Miata at the moment.

Jesus, with all the oil threads we have here....and ones with proper OA results at that....

I user water, it's much thinner than oil so it can get into places oil can't.

I searched what kind of oil and found a bunch of stuff but none about what kind of oil to use.
So I dont need to go with royal purple or some other 10 dollar a quart oil.
Castrol Syntec syn will work
5w-30 is ok?

In everything, bikes and cars, for the past 6 yrs, except for a Triumph triple that DEMANDED (in bold letters) that only Mobil 1 Racing 4T be used.

I put tens of thousands of miles on a tiny turbo run lean and changed religiously with no ill effects.

Problem with the Triumph , like most bikes is it uses a wet clutch hence dedicated oil to suit

Well yes, but the difference is friction modifiers that don't **** up your clutch. I've had over 20 bikes and have been through this a bit.

Rotella does not have them, which means you can use it in bikes, and it's also good in turbo cars (seems to hold up well under high temp/high rpm...designed for turbodeisels).

The Triumph Daytona 955i IS -very- picky about oil. I don't question $70 oil changes on a 160hp bike. Would rather piece of mind when hauling that much ***. Read enough on the forums that I'd let good experiences with the Rotella slide just that once. Only had it for 2 oil changes anyhow as it was a ******* speeding ticket magnet.

Castrol Edge 10W60.
A special blend version is what runs the BMW M5, so this must be good.

What's good for one car may not necessarily be good for another car. Also, depending on climate, one may want to run a thicker or thinner oil to suit their individualized needs.
