What is this one for...
Hey guys, I was going to try the OEM cruise control install on my 90. So I started looking to see if it had the wiring harness behind the dash and in the engine compartment. Going from the pictures off of M.net I have neither. But it does have this one, its directly to the left of the steering column next to the the dimming switch. It has a blank cover over it. Any ideas what its for?
Thanks,
Ryan

CorrectPost is Correct:
I think that the blue connector to the left of the one you've got hanging out is the cruise switch.
Here's the complete system diagram for cruise control:
Note that if the vehicle was not originally equipped with cruise control, some of these wires may be missing from the harness. For instance, I know that in 1.6 vehicles with neither an automatic transmission nor factory cruise, the G/R wire (at position P here) is missing between common connector X-17 and the instrument panel connector. Annoyingly, the actual VSS itself is present, there's just no wire going to it.

the blue connector to the left of it is the dimmer switch. I had it pulled out and unplugged so I could change the light in it. I was hoping the I would be lucky and have some of the cruise control stuff pre-wired, but its not looking that way. And looking at that wiring diagram right now looks like a bunch of scribbles. I will have to look at it again tomorrow, thank you for posting that though. I love cruise control and would love to go OEM but if I have to go aftermarket thats fine too

well I was offered $125 by another board member for his complete setup. My only concern is I was reading and it people have said if you dont have to wiring looms present to go aftermarket and save yourself the headache. So I am not entirely sure what I want to do...
