190k miles 1999 base model, crank windows, 5 speed, etc. Front end collision, hood, fenders, bumper wrecked. Air bags blew. It is claimed to be a good running car. The lady said the top is in good condition. I'm assuming it does not have a torsen. I'll keep the motor if it is, indeed, a runner.

What is it worth, given damage assumed from a good front-ender? I don't mind putting in a little effort to at least get back what I buy it for. What are the pitfalls I can expect with a part-out?

 

I am sure you can part it out and get some good money for it. as far as it having a torsen get the vin and call Mazda and have them do a vin search. They can tell you if it had a torsen when built.

Start at $700. I talked a guy with a wrecked '99 down once and the car was in way better shape.

 

Almost assuredly no Torsen on a base model. May be interested in top if pristine, assumint that it is black and a factory top to work with my HD HT bar. Oh, and maybe some interior parts-door panels for crank windows, etc. I need to look at mine again to see if they are bad enough to warrant replacing.
