Why is a miata not worth boosting?----------

I am going to offer some constructive criticism...
You made the assumption that anyone here knows about your miata build plans or cares. If you are not going to include the details of the miata you mention in your threat title, nor pictures, what do you expect? Were you talking about miatas in general? This site is called "Miata turbo." We (collectively) know a thing or two about making forced induction Miatas. Context matters and if you got the idea that Miatas are not worth boosting you would think that it was based on a specific context or preposition. Come on man, you seem reasonable enough on some other threads, what happened here?
You have no idea how much worse this could have been. Two or so years ago this thread would have been so raw Sam Jackson would be taking notes.

Only REAL Con to boost is Money.
Every reliability issue that crops up with forced induction is solvable with money.
Decrease in lifespan of consumables ? Money
Sudden decrease in transmission functionality? Money
Sudden ventilation of stock bottom end? Money
etc, etc.
We flame because of the idiocy of your question. This forum is called miataTURBO.net It's a collection of individuals who share information on the benefits and pitfalls along with TURBOing their MIATA.
If you chose to be a member, read, contribute positively, and not ask self-answering idiotic questions we would feel no need to flame. If you get offended by 'name calling' then it's probably good you'll receive a forced vacation from this site.

If you don't have the budget then no, it's not worth boosting, because you will either end up hurting your motor (long term) or it won't be has fast as you would like.
A Miata is not worth boosting IN MY OPINION over 450whp for the street and 330whp on the track VERSUS a LS swap. MY reasoning is that the amount of work/money to make a 400hp turbo miata work reliably on the track is very close to (and probably more than) a LS swap with associated transmission, rear end etc.
Minimum reliable Turbo Miata budget: MKturbo kit with megasquirt and injectors. Add Ebay intercooler and lines. Maybe $1800? Its been awhile since I have priced it all out. There are plenty of threads that deal with this. Below that number it's not worth it because it will be suffering and headache. Just my opinion.
Again, context is important. You gave none.
(I feel like I'm going to get a lot of grief for these estimates from my friends... lol!)
