FML and my rear.

FML and my rear.
MMMMMMk... so i has a 95 miata with a RX7 rear diff. Problem is I keep breaking that f-ing "spacer" that bolts to the differential and meets the PPF. It helps guide the two carriage bolts that hold the PPF to the diff. Anyone else have this problem or know how to remedy it with a aftermarket? I've gone through 3 of these so far. It's cast iron so pretty much no one can weld it. It squeaks as if a rear end bushing especially when you are brisk on the gas.
BTW... it's non turbo and pushing stock HP so I wouldn't think shiz like this should break so easily...

I would say either something is out of line or your diff mounts or motor mounts are bad causing your driveline to torque way out of it's natural position, increasing the strain on that part.

The diff may be easier to see but if a motor mount is tore on the bottom you wouldn't be able to see it. Double check so you can rule it out. Either get a pry bar and some 2x4s and pry on a solid part of your engine or torque up the drive train in forward and reverse with the e brake on and the hood open to see if your engine moves around more than normal. If the you do the latter, make sure no one is around the car and you have plenty of room between you and solid objects just in case.

OK... I know it's been a few weeks but the spacer actually hasn't broken.. I thought it had because of the noise it's making again.. and the engine and diff mounts are fine. I did some digging and went through the Haynes manual and found out that the douche of an ex owner actually removed a lot of the spacers that connect the PPF to the rear diff. AND there is a big warning in the book saying if the spacers are removed the PPF WILL NEED to be replaced altogether. FML. This car is seriously nickle and diming me to death. lol
