you guys ever get a burning smell????
I've grown accustomed to smelling odd stuff while driving my car with the top down..... other cars burning stuff, cow **** in the country...... things I never noticed in a hard top
However MY car seems to make a burning smell sometimes when I park it..... like tonight, I went to dairy queen with the car club, had a nice leisurely drive home, not really much boosting, think I only went to 4psi or so....
And then I park my car to go inside the house, and there's this damn burning smell again! The car runs fine, PCV is ok, and I wouldn't imagine that my clutch was slipping during such a sedated cruise. The car doesn't leak anything, I have a hose routed to my filter from the drivers side valvecover vent, and nothing seems to be detached???? The downpipe and manifold are high heat painted and wrapped in DEI heat wrap, but the smell was present before I did that.....
It's just odd to me, I don't think anything is horribly wrong per-se but I'd like to find the root cause of the problem If I could!

Yup. It's one of the joys of turbo ownership. Enjoy the privilege.
my car always has funky smells after driving in the hot or boosting really hard. could be grease on the turbo if you worked on it...could be your exhaust burning a whole in your cat. could be a lot of things... it happens to everyone.
i wouldn't worry about it unless it starts smoking haha.

how is your drain for your turbo situated. I found that i got a bad burning smell with my stock greddy oil return routing, especially when i had a section that went slightly uphill.
My car gets a burning smell after runs too, doesn't leak anything or burn anything internally. Might just be the metal getting hot and smelling, or my unwrapped heater hoses melting (I plan to fix that eventually..) but who knows? If something important actually was burning I'm sure you would know about it by now.
ive been getting some burning smells since putting my car back together a few weeks ago, you would think all the grease and stuff would have burnt off by now but i guess not.
my oil drain isn't quite straight up and down, but it does have a clear downward path.... I have a FM metal core catalyst on the car, so I doubt that's burning off......
