Well the plan was monday, but I didn't get the brackets for mounting and unfortunately today I have been stranded at my house because of flooding. I can't go anywhere until this clears up a bit. The plan is actually to ship each person 2 boxes one from the PCB assembly/wiring location, and one from here with the coils. I'm thinking about just waiting now and sending everything in one big box from here since It may not be until Thursday that I can even leave the house to get the coils out. We'll see how long the flooding takes to go down.

Laur3ns 08-05-2009 04:23 AM

Sorry to hear that. Saw some pictures of the flood yesterday, just WOW.

JayL 08-05-2009 05:06 PM

This is a joke right?

TravisR 08-05-2009 05:38 PM

Unfortunately no.

I definitely learned my lesson with this group buy that there will never be another group buy haha. It gets here when it gets here, and everyone pays retail. Its just more stress then its worth.

Laur3ns 08-05-2009 05:40 PM

TravisR. I understand your comment but OTOH you may soon have critical mass in the Miata community to sell more of those. Without a GB that would take much longer presumably. On the planning department however... :giggle:

Faeflora 08-05-2009 10:35 PM

Well once this GB is all shipped out I'm placing a "retail" order..

thymer 08-06-2009 08:36 AM

Hey there Travis, shit happens, you can't control mother nature, but.... ALWAYS build lots of time into your time line for things outside your control. If you think it's going to take 2 months, say it will take 4. If you get it done in 3 you're a hero. It's really not that hard, just put more contingency time into your project plan.

thymer 08-07-2009 10:21 AM

Any updates Travis? This is the last part I need to install before I tune. thanks!

jtothawhat 08-09-2009 03:06 PM

Bump for some updates!!!!

TravisR 08-10-2009 12:07 AM

This is going out next week, and its going to come from a weird address. I'm leaving this in my partners very capable hands as I'm leaving for Florida next week. So if you get a box from Menominee Falls MN don't throw it away.

I have shipped all the parts I have to him for him to ship everything in big boxes that everything in it. I will be available for email questions, or by phone while I'm on vacation if there are any problems with the installs.

Just to clarify, the orders will be shipping out sometime next week from MN to us, correct?

Also, please send me the setup for a Link ECU.

thanks

TravisR 08-10-2009 09:22 AM

Actually this week and some orders may also go out next week. The people on the lists that I put together in the first group will get their parts shipped this week. The second group will probably be split between the two weeks.

Thanks,
Travis

jtothawhat 08-12-2009 01:11 PM

Do you have tracking numbers???

thymer 08-12-2009 03:01 PM

Starting to get a little nervous here. Has anyone ever ordered from this company and received a product?

Laur3ns 08-12-2009 03:40 PM

Yea, big props for the frame rails. I have no worries about getting them. Just the planning department went bazerk on this GB.

10-4, thanks

TravisR 08-12-2009 04:08 PM

Just to report back here, things will start leaving tomorrow. Alex my partner in MN has recieved everything and is in the process of putting all the orders together and preparing them for shipping.

Excellent update. Have him post some candle light feel good web cam shots :)
On a more serious note: post the MSPNP settings I need.

JayL 08-13-2009 12:56 PM

Any chance we can get some tracking numbers? If they don't make it to to me prior to leaving for vacation, I can't imagine they will be there when I return.....

jtothawhat 08-14-2009 01:37 PM

^^^ What he said, if you could give us some tracking numbers that would be great. :2cents:

TravisR 08-15-2009 12:06 AM

I've been on the road for the last day so I haven't in touch. I'll get an update tomorrow to see what has shipped, and where we are at on everything.

JayL 08-16-2009 01:46 PM

So, tomorrow has come and gone. Get your shit together and give us an update because this is getting old. Glad to see you can post up in other threads, but can't seem to find the time to update this one.

thymer 08-16-2009 02:09 PM

+1 for an update.

TravisR 08-16-2009 05:06 PM

As far as I know everything went out on Friday, and if anything didn't make it its going out on Monday. Its not like I'm hiding from anything, but I don't have anything to update on it. I called twice, and I emailed once. My partner works at an airfield doing aircraft electronics, so its possible he just hasn't been home to respond. Sometimes he works 16 hour shifts.

Further, its a weekend. Nothing ships today, and nothing physically can ship on Saturday although it can be dropped off at the post office in the morning for shipping on Monday. I know people have been waiting, but ultimately its going to be worth the wait. If what happened should of happened (which I believe it did or else I would of definitely heard otherwise) you guys already have them in the mail.

JayL 08-16-2009 05:21 PM

You're the one who said you would update us yesterday. Since this whole thing started over 2 months ago with a tentative 2 week delivery date I certainly feel you are either hiding something from us or just don't have a clue about your customers. I could care less about your partners issues, job, etc... I want the product that I paid for or my money back. Very simple, you decide.

For what it's worth, you have just lost me as a customer forever.

TravisR 08-16-2009 06:32 PM

Enjoy the oil pump gears I did those at no cost for the community, and the gauges for wholesale plus shipping. I've treated you the best I could.

This is a huge project. Almost 10k has switched hands, and a multitude of manufacturers that you can't count on both hands have contributed components to this system. Was it a mess? Yes! Am I sitting here on my first vacation in 1.5 years answering you questions, and providing the best support I possibly can? Yes! I don't know what else I can do for you Jay. We don't have a whole horde of guys working in a factory, two guys have come together and provided a system $150 less then splitfire system introduced long ago that didn't work. We're making less profit margin then them, and providing more product. Just like the oil pump gears that Bill Wilner sells for 400 that I did for 150. Its cheap, its good, you just might have to wait for a bit. The wait is over, and you are going through the roof?

thymer 08-16-2009 06:48 PM

all right, lets everyone take a couple deep breaths.

Travis, I have no doubt that you have committed a lot of time and capitol in the pursuit of bringing something cool and needed to the HP Miata market. You won't get rich doing this so your doing it because you enjoy it. That's pretty cool and I appreciate it and look forward to your future projects. Now, the time-line was a goatfuck. Shit happens, this is custom stuff and takes a lot of time, longer than you think. Please take heed though, your communication must be clear or folks get antsy. You said yesterday that you'd be posting an update today. If you say you're gonna then do it, period. That's integrity and it's important. Next, as I mentioned before, stretch out your time-lines 3X so you exceed your customers expectations. The project ends up taking the same amount of time and your customers are ecstatic instead of pissed. See what I mean?

Jay, I hear you, you're only asking what a customer deserves. What say we give Travis an opportunity to succeed and see if the communicating and planning can get a little better on the next project (IRTB intake hint hint).

How about a tracking number so I know when to expect them. Will be pretty funny if a package is sitting outside my house for several weeks while I'm on vacation and someone walks off with it. See where I am coming from? Neither one of us wants to mess with that headache.

The wait will be over when I receive the product. Are you surprised that there isn't a lot of confidence that these have shipped? This isn't the first time we have heard they will be shipping.

Up until this point I have always had a good experience when doing business with you. That's what this is, just business. Everyone knows you have a lot of time and effort involved with the different products you have brought to market. Just try to put yourself on the other side and see it from where I'm sitting.

TravisR 08-16-2009 07:02 PM

I know and I sincerely apologize for the miss-communication. Time lines will and are going to be much different for all future products. Its tough tough tough getting things done, because no one wants to work for bottom dollar, and because I get behind on things myself. Its always easier then it seems. I will come through for you guys, and I'm sure I'm going to get a phone call soon with an update on whose orders went out. It just hasn't happened yet, and as soon as I do get that phone call you guys will be the first to know.

JayL 08-16-2009 07:07 PM

If mine hasn't gone out yet and it's a matter of money to get a tracking number, please let me know. I will pay what it takes to get them to me safely or on at least know their exact arrival date so I can arrange to have someone waiting for the package.

TravisR 08-17-2009 10:26 PM

Ok,

Update time.

I will be receiving tracking numbers tomorrow via email.

The brackets didn't fit as we intended, so the units went out without a mounting bracket for the ignition box. The up side, because you guys have had to wait, you get the choice between carbon or aluminum mounting plates. Let me know what you want. The mount is not required for function. The box's are tanks, so on that end your set to plug it in and run. The mounting plate is just a goody to make it look nicer basically.

There will also be a full carbon cover that goes over the weapon-x units if you'd like to purchase that seperately. I just have to finish it. It was never intended to be included in the kits. Eat your clubroadster heart out.

Let me know if there are any questions.

ViRuS2k 08-18-2009 06:03 AM

If possible post some pictures from the carbon stuff :bigtu:

Looking forward to some tracking numbers today Travis.

As far as the bracket, I don't care what it's made of, whatever can get to me the quickest. With that said, how long are we talking about?

thymer 08-18-2009 07:52 PM

anybody want to put some money on us seeing tracking numbers today? Isn't it odd that we haven't seen any pics?

jtothawhat 08-19-2009 02:17 AM

Well, this is kinda getting old....but hey if I get to pick I want aluminum.

Laur3ns 08-19-2009 02:28 AM

I'm sure I'm going to get a phone call soon with an update on whose orders went out. It just hasn't happened yet, and as soon as I do get that phone call you guys will be the first to know.
Considering this was next:

I will be receiving tracking numbers tomorrow via email.
You didn't get a call with whose orders are out.
Travis, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON? Where are the parts, are they assembled, what needs to be done, who's not answering your calls and why?

I trust you will get this done shortly, but you need to break the loop and stop telling us tomorrow, soon, I will have... STOP! Just tell us where it's at and stop making estimates.

JayL 08-19-2009 03:08 AM

Two more weeks.

Faeflora 08-19-2009 10:00 AM

Yah dude, just full disclosure would be best. Everyone fucks up sometimes on build dates and delivery schedules. The pros from all lines of business do it all the time. Most people on this board are human and they fuck up just as much as everyone else so that's not the issue-- they just don't like being given transparent excuses.

TravisR 08-19-2009 10:09 AM

I spent 18 hours on the road yesterday, and have not had time to look into anything or talk to anyone yet. So while I wanted to get tracking numbers up I wasn't able to. I'll actually be around the resort all day today so I'll be able to recieve all phone calls, and send emails...

TravisR 08-19-2009 03:08 PM

836231095 Jay here is your usps tracking number.

I got the full story today. It seems its taken him longer then expected to put together the full boxes. I was under the assumption he was going to have everything shipped on Friday. He evidently had to work extra, and things got in the way. He say's he'll have 5 more tracking numbers for me tomorrow, and it should ramp up from there.

The thing with tomorrow, next week and ectetera is the filter effect of going through so many manufacturers, and having a system which is hugely dependent on each individual piece assembling. Just like changing a clutch there is a long line of things to do. You can't get to the clutch changing until EVERYTHING else required is done before it. The "transparent excuses" may look like they are just ways of hiding information. If you look it up the flood of louisville metro area really did happen. Then there are manufacturers that had problems 2 fold. 1 with meeting deadlines and two they had continous problems meeting our strict quality control standards. We have rejected over 10 different manufacturing trials for the housings just to get them at the level we want. Another example is the last batch of coils we got in 5 of the 20 that were shipped were rejected because of damage in shipping. All the little things have added up in a way that myself or my partner could have never anticipated in time line protraction. Its unfortunate and I appologize for it, but there is no reason to get this hasty language going on. You can apply all the heat you want to this situation, but things are moving at the pace they are moving at, and no one not even myself can speed it up. Its just going to create hard feelings between people, and I don't think anyone wants to see that.

thymer 08-19-2009 05:00 PM

this is getting really old. I was first on the list, did it ship or not?

ViRuS2k 08-19-2009 08:53 PM

some people in europe also wait for their parts for example netherlands or austria... :sadwavey:

tann3r 08-19-2009 10:49 PM

I'm still waiting too...

TravisR 08-20-2009 06:49 PM

Alright, so he didn't end up getting tracking numbers for these 5 that went out today. They were sent priority so all you would get is a delivery confirmation number anyways. They will arrive in 2 days though, and the postal service is fairly reliable on that end.

Colin T
Bernie J

Now the plan has changed atleast a little on the order everything is going out. Right now we're doing all the 96-00. After that 01-05, and 89-93 are handled. The next units will go out on monday, and as I understand it that wave will be larger as he's going to work through the weekend doing assembly, so we might expect as many as 10 kits to go out on Monday. Then I would imagine we may be in position to do 5 more on Wednesday and 5 more that Friday. This will catch up all the back orders. These dates are ofcourse optimistic, because I'm always an optimist on thngs. If your a pesimist add two days to everything.

I'll be home on Sunday to design the new mount plates for the units.

I'm also offering excellent deals to people who bought the cop units and had to wait. If you've been looking at an adaptronic, or other boundary product I can offer serious discounts as a good will effort. Even if its a non boundary product I have coilover systems I can probably get to you for 500 under retail, and I can sell a pretty comprehensive list of parts I have not yet put up on the website. Just contact me, and I'll see what I can do for you guys.

All the best,
Travis

Any deals for the people that were in the initial adaptronic group buy? I'm in the market for a suspension upgrade.

I'm a bit confused on this, I have an 01 and you said it was already sent. Does this mean it's the wrong one or is this the order after the group buy? Also, are they marked in any way to differentiate between the versions?

The connectors basically changed in each of the year brackets. So if its the wrong year it won't plug in.

What´s about the first 1.8 versions from 94-95?

Including international buyer´s? The 96-00 connectors are compatible with 94-95? I don´t want to pay taxes for the wrong connectors.

I take the carbon design...

TravisR 08-21-2009 02:54 AM

The 94-95 will be handled in that group as well.

The connectors only changed twice. In 94 and in 01'. The function of the coils changed in 96 though, and thats why they arn't going out with the 96-00. It is terribly complex on just how many times Mazda changed something simple like a coilpack. First we had igniters, then we didn't have igniters, it generated a tach signal, then it didn't generate a tach signal but the pin was left. Then the pin was deleted, but the connector didn't change. Then the connector was changed and the space for the deleted pin was removed. They just didn't leave this part of the engine system alone. This was a bit of a blockade to the development process itself.

I've got you down for carbon.

Thanks

JayL 08-21-2009 11:03 AM

Sounds good, when I get back from California I'll give it a try.

jtothawhat 08-21-2009 11:02 PM

Any eta on the brackets?

Lemme get photos of your oil cooler and your pre-blower water injection system. :offtopic:

tann3r 08-22-2009 10:43 PM

I'll take some tomorrow when its light out. the oil cooler is the FM one and you really cant see much from the top.

You know, if you came out to the track you could see it for yourself :p

TravisR 08-23-2009 12:40 AM

The little rubber parts move up and down on the cop sticks to get the seal you need. Overcareful not to move the rubber too far down, or you'll have a really fun time getting the coil back out.

Laur3ns 08-23-2009 02:22 AM
