A price on a AEM oil pressure gauge would be great!

Decided not to install them last night. I'm going to wait until the bracket gets here. I dont want to drive with the control unit bouncing around.

Laur3ns 08-23-2009 04:41 PM

Seems you could fab a bracket in a minute out of anything?

tann3r 08-23-2009 04:46 PM

How about its hot outside and i'm lazy?

Thinking of getting these in a few weeks... in for more pics and first hand experiences when people get a chance :D

+ 1

Travis, just wondering how much shipping extra for it to go to Hong Kong? (retail price $439.10 ?) And when will you ready to ship the order made from now on? thanks

TravisR 08-24-2009 12:10 PM

I'm still digging out from under current orders. I don't want to give a time just yet, as I haven't heard an update today on where the manufacturer is.

Shipping to Hong Kong will be 45 dollars at the most, and 35 dollars at the least depending on delivery service.

jtothawhat 08-26-2009 01:42 PM

Let me know when you send out my order, or if you know when it will be sent out. Thanks!

TravisR 08-27-2009 09:32 AM

WIll do, we have shipped more, but we haven't gotten to you yet.

Thanks,
Travis

Laur3ns 08-27-2009 09:36 AM

Did mine StotheHtotheIP yet?

jtothawhat 08-30-2009 07:39 PM

Any updates????

TravisR 08-30-2009 08:28 PM

None as of yet, make sure you check your email every Monday and Wednesday. Tracking number/shipment information goes out on those days.

tann3r 08-31-2009 09:33 PM

What about the brackets?

Laur3ns 09-01-2009 02:06 AM

Someone better be working overnight on this fuckup. Damn the product better be outstanding. This so called manufacturer is just a kid with a solder gun, no?

It's morning and I need coffee.

thymer 09-01-2009 07:57 AM

Updates please? Can I get an general idea when my order will be shipped and also how long for the bracket. I was #1 on the list ie first one to send money.

bspisak 09-01-2009 12:32 PM

LOL. You guys are incorrigible. If it were me, I'd refund your money just to get you all to stop bitching.

Braineack 09-01-2009 12:37 PM

bspisak, please paypal me $440.

The solder guy is a 28 year old avionics professional. He is a very solid, detail oriented, time efficient guy. In the last 4 days he's slept about 10 hours between work and assembling these PCB boards. Lets just hope a plane doesn't fall out of the sky because he's made a mistake due to the extra work load and sleep deprivation. Each kit once it gets to us takes about 5 hours to do, and there is at least a 24hour drying time for the epoxy. That's why things are moving slow. We get a unit done, then we pot it. We might be getting 1 to 1.5 done per a work day where we can sit for 5 hours at a time. We estimated an hour to an hour and 45 minutes for each one. He is very good at PCB assembly. He's fast, and efficient, but there are a LOAD of components on each board not to mention the electronic control units in the boxes have to be programmed. I'm doing the harnesses and we're splitting duty. They are just coming along slow.

No updates on approximate ship dates. Just keep checking your email. we do send out tracking information. We have units done, and in the field we are working the list as quickly as possible. If anyone is running a Megasquirt or Adaptronic please let me know, those are quick to assemble compared to the stock units because there isn't nearly as much soldering.

secretsquirrel 09-01-2009 10:27 PM

"LOL. You guys are incorrigible. If it were me, I'd refund your money just to get you all to stop bitching."

Jesus Christ / Mohammed guys...this was a group buy / ramp up production for the benefit of all...MTnet included. Not a production run for fcuks sake...sorry, no affilation, etc.

Wow, didn't know it was that much work. Thanks for detailing that.

I run MSPNP9495 so that will be an easy one, relatively :)

Keep it up. Yes, I've had my coffee today :)

But it is possible to run the cops with a "stock" unit and a megasquirt too?

TravisR 09-02-2009 07:18 AM

Yea, the units with all the components on them run with ANYTHING. The standalone units run with just the standalone.

jtothawhat 09-05-2009 01:28 PM

So it's been awhile....

TravisR 09-05-2009 02:06 PM

Still moving we shipped units mon, wed and yesterday this week. Your number will come up soon if it hasn't already.

thymer 09-08-2009 08:55 AM

Can anyone confirm that they have received their order and successfully installed?

Travis, your description of this device says it will work on any ECU, is that entirely correct? Have you tested on the Link?

You have to keep in mind, that of the orders that were put in, most of the people are running power cards and are supercharged. Some how this got onto a supercharged forum and they went bonanza over the systems. There is actually only a pretty small amount from Miata turbo that have ordered.

There is only one ECU we've had problems with and thats the Hydra. The first orders that went out were for standalones (because as stated they are quick to build) that produced a 5v pulse signal. The Hydra for some reason was not putting out this 5v pulse, so i suspect it is using the stock voltage instead. In that case the hydra just needs a system with the amplifiers that we build into the universal boards. I have not tested that yet on a customer car but intend to do so this week. It is highly highly unlikely that the hydra is sending out any other signal then this, because if it was the stock coils would not function properly.

My exploits into the stock ecu using an o-scope have revealed so many things that people have not been catching. I would never never never run a COP on this car without an advanced digital ignition management unit and an oscilloscope. You will burn out coils. The signals output by the ECU are a precise mess.

So wait, I have a AEM EMS...should this make my order move faster???

ViRuS2k 09-14-2009 04:11 AM

Any News from somebody?

Laur3ns 09-14-2009 04:16 AM

Where am I on the list? Shipped or when?

TravisR 09-14-2009 04:35 PM

Water line bursted, and have been putting a new one in. I will have more details after I finish tonight. Ofcourse refunds are open to anyone who is frustrated with the process. I wanted to make sure everyone knew that. These parts are also backed by a 100% unconditional gauruntee to work for 1 year. I feel thats important to state as well since this is a new part. Even though we've had all the brass sign off on it, you can't tell until the end user really beats on it.

thymer 09-14-2009 06:44 PM

Sorry to hear about the main. Do you think it would be possible to get some target dates out there for the various "styles"?

TravisR 09-14-2009 11:18 PM

Alright, I got it most of the way buried anyways. Yikes what a pain.

So right now the plan is to have all back orders caught up in the next month. Here is what I do know. The current manufacturing is two slow. We can't keep this up, and get every order filled. I have new orders that come in daily despite me telling people its going to be a month+, and although it doesn't matter to you guys who are much much higher up in line, I have to switch to another manufacturing service that doesn't consist of me doing the wiring looms, and the aerospace tech doing the PCB boards/potting. I have to tend to standalone orders, my regular work, and these wiring looms and that is just ending up letting everyone down. Clearly not a valid solution.

So what I would ask is to have everyone hang tight while I work something out that will end up getting the parts out faster. I'm tired of disappointing people, and I've got to get this fixed now so I don't continue to do so. As I have stated before refunds are available if you feel this is an unfair wait. The wait itself I'm hoping will be a steady delay while I sort and get samples from large scale PCB manufacturers, and then once a manufacturer is selected everyone will get there parts just like we previously hoped would happen with just Alex and I doing them exept they will have 25 workers who have nothing to do but putting these boxes together, and solid experience to do it quickly.

I will update as I know more.

superslow 09-15-2009 02:39 AM

If anybody from the original GB here wants out on this, I will gladly take your place. Just let me know if this is an option Travis.

Laur3ns 09-29-2009 01:55 AM

Five days Travis, what's your status? Have put names on the tasks in the process yet? How many of these units do you need to get out yet?

TravisR 09-29-2009 08:37 AM

I will write an email today to everyone giving an update. We selected a manufacturer and will be recieving the protoboard today for one model of Miata, the 94-00. If it works as intended they will start production.

We have about 15 to get out the door yet.

webby459 09-30-2009 02:26 PM

Travis, sent you a pm. Check it out and get back to me, please. Thanks.

Father LeadFoot 10-01-2009 01:36 PM

Looking forward to you finally obtaining a solution, its been a tough road, but I appreciate you deterimination to do this correctly despite the displeasure from GB members.

As soon as it's figured out I'm going to be buying these as my christmas gift :^)

superslow 10-01-2009 01:57 PM

Hey Travis,
Just curious if you had sent the email. I didn't receive one yet. I am sitting in for #4 JayL who dropped out. Sent payment last week via paypal. Thanks.

Not a problem, as stated in the emails refunds are available to anyone. I didn't hold up my original time line so I'm not holding you to our transaction.

Hey Travis, can we get an update please.

thanks

TravisR 10-07-2009 08:13 PM

Hello Thymer,

I sent out an email a couple days ago. At any rate, this week they are on vacation. Next week we are waiting, and the week after is manufacturing week.

Best Regards,
Travis

The last email I have from you was on Sept 20'th, about 2 1/2 weeks ago. In it you said:

Timeline: Right now we’re looking at a timeline of about 2 weeks before we begin shipping again. We have to select a new manufacturer and give them time to start. We are still producing units and going through the list, but we would not expect many to come before the next 2 weeks. When the new manufacturer comes online we expect a throughput that will almost immediately fill all orders.

Hello Purchasers,

Just filling in with an update on the coil systems. We have selected our manufacturer, and the proto board worked out just fine. The company is on vacation next week, and then we’ll be waiting a week to get into line on the manufacturing que. The intended ship window is the 15-21st of October.

That was the email that was sent out.

evank 10-14-2009 03:23 AM

I'm very tempted to order this for my MSM, as my homebuilt COPS project failed and I'm too lazy to keep throwing effort / time / money at it.

Can anyone who DID get their order and install these coils (in an NB, please) tell me how they worked out for you?

So far, Travis has been nothing but a mensch in several private conversations with me. However I'd like to see a bit more real-world assurance before I hand over 440 of my dollars.

Hi Travis, can you confirm that:
- this is still the manufacturer of choice?
- they are back open after holiday since Monday
- we are still in line for end of this week/early next week

Can you also update on the build order? Specifically, where am I?

thymer 10-15-2009 11:54 AM

+1 on the update. I've got the car apart for a new head which I should receive in about six weeks. I'd really like to have the COPS to install by then before I go back to the dyno.

TravisR 10-15-2009 04:42 PM

Everything does look good on the path we're on. The manufacturer came back, and its looking like the end of next week/beginning of the week after they will be shipping the product. So for the most part our tentative time line is still solid. Once we recieve them I'll be shipping them out as soon as I get them. I've got the boxing and everything ready to go.

I'll have to get back to everyone on the lists, because things have changed ALOT over the last couple of weeks. Some people got refunds, and some people bought in, and as a result my old list needs to be updated.

TravisR 10-24-2009 12:10 PM

They got 3-4 days behind on their ship dates so I haven't seen them yet. All the better, as I just got the coils and other parts I need to package along with it shipped to me. The original builder was reluctant to fully relinquish everything.

Best,
Travis

evank 10-26-2009 10:11 PM

I'm in!

Hoping to get these before Nov. 14 Dyno Day .... I hope I hope I hope ......

As I understand it, these super-high-end COPS will make my car idle smoother, get rid of the misfires at boost, and elongate my schlong.

I'll settle for 2 out of 3. :)

PS - I really want these before Dyno Day, but Travis says his upcoming batch of 16 units is already sold out. Is anyone willing to give me their spot? My birthday is this week, consider it a present!!
