Did you get your shroud built ? Can you post a pict ? I'm overheating with a koyo 37mm, one OE fan and one generic aftermarket (gonna replace) and air scooper in NC in the 95 deg temps (replaced water pump, timing everything, have dual fan mod, no undertray tho). Like to see your setup - are the 1500CFM fans working out for ya ? Can you or anyone else running two of those 12" 1500's provide edge to edge measurement since yours are on godspeed it may be a slightly diff fittment on the koyo?

Thanks much,

Put the undertray back on. I was having some heat issues after driving on the freeway with my car. I put the undertray back on and most of my heat issues went away. Now my breaks still work after I get off the freeway!

^ nice find.

Thank you.

I finally got to installing them.
First photo shows the stock and 12" side-by-side. Notice the scalloping of the stock shroud to the left of the fan motor, done to clear the sway (and the sway still rested on the shroud).
Second, two fans arranged on top of the rad (custom, one-off, that's why the remote reservoir)
Third show the zip ties that I used to mount the fans. Feed them through, and lower the retaining ring. Pretty secure.
Fourth photo, everything installed, and I left the zip ties un-snipped (I did it later, on the car)

Note: I reversed the blades. Didn't take pics, but it's straightforward. Seems that the fans pulled more with the blades reversed.
Note: Reversing the blades keeps the fan a "pull" type.

And, lastly, fifth photo shows the sway bar clearance. FM 1" NB (car is '90).

Hope this helps. :)

P.S. The reason I switched from single to dual (only one stock fan could be mounted on alum rad, so I had to put up with it after my stock rad blew up, literally) was because one fan was plenty for cooling, but not nearly enough to run A/C, P/S, and cool the car.

why would reversing the blades pull more air?

coastertrav 08-23-2008 04:29 PM

Reversing the blades make the fan a pull type. That would definitely pull more air than a push type.

why not just change the polarity?

Probably the fan has a polarized motor.

Pull or push is just the direction in which the blades are arranged. Im surprised they dont come oriented for pull from the factory.

alik 08-24-2008 08:51 PM

The fans came with a ground (black) and power (red) wires. From the description I understood that either the wires can be switched (unlikely), or the fans can be mounted in either push (in front of rad) or pull (behind the rad) orientation.

All I know is, my A/C blows freezing air. :D

I'm now running the 2x12's from siliconintakes - they come assembled in a pull config (with the blades in the right orientation and the blue wire is hot, black is ground). The other aftermarket fan I bought came in a push config and I had to remove the blades and reverse them and use the same polarity (i/e blue = hot, black = ground). So it's all that uncommon to have a fan come in the push config.

Just ordered some of the ebay fans from page 1. :)

Good to hear!

One thing I'm about to do is wire both fans to come on at the same time, and not just the passenger side fan only when the A/C is on.

I was sitting in traffic, outside temp around 90, I turn the A/C on, and see my temp gauge climb up past the middle.
Parallel fans!

I hear you guys now, this is Jessica. I just dealt with one of you great memebers. Thanks to Mr.Bean my fan sales have gone through the roof!!

Project84 05-18-2009 05:52 PM

prices still the same? I'd take one... maybe two.

evank 06-23-2009 12:31 PM

I have clearance issues with the stock fan assembly (attacked to CXRacing radiator) and the FM MSM throttle body elbow .... they both want to occupy the same airspace. So I ordered a pair of 10" fans and mounting hardware from our new friend Jessica. Hoping that solves the fitment problem.

Is anybody other than me starting to wonder if she's hot and digs turbo Miatas?

gearhead1806 06-23-2009 12:35 PM

I am in love with Miata Turbos!! Mr. Bean put it right in one of his post....bigger is better! I love Miataturbo.net!! Give me a call and I can hook you up.---By the way this is Jessica!

gearhead1806 06-23-2009 12:37 PM

Anyone want to take me for a ride in the Miata??? I want to see how well my fans work to cool you down!

evank 06-23-2009 12:51 PM

But you didn't answer the first part of my question. We want pics ... not of the fans. :)

Zabac 06-23-2009 01:12 PM

WOW, am I responsible for bringing another female to our board? Stephanie is no longer alone!!! Go me!
Anyways, thanks for your help Jessica, if you list your location in your profile I am sure someone will offer you a ride.

evank 06-23-2009 01:20 PM

gearhead1806 06-23-2009 02:29 PM
