Timing advice needed. Tuner near Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Hello all. A new member here. I have a turbocharged 1999 Miata engine in a Caterham 7. The engine was tuned by Flyin Miata in Colorado and has run flawlessly, other than a high idle, ever since I have owned it. Recently I did a valve lash adjustment on the car. I disturbed the cam position sensor during this process and although I marked it I am not totally comfortable that I will get it back to where it should be. Can anyone suggest a timing specifiation at say 1500rpm that I can use to get back to "home base".
Does anyone know of a good tuner well versed in Hydra near Washington, DC? I think its time I gave her a checkup.

Is it a BP-4W head with the stock cam sensor? If so, what concerns do you have with the cam sensor? There is only one way to install it and it isn't adjustable. The 1990-1997 heads with the CAS in the back of the head is a different story. On those, grab a timing light, lock the base timing in the ECU software, and check that timing at the crank pulley matches what the Hydra is commanding.
As for a tuner, maybe try and contact flyin miata for support, or KORacing? Hydra has ran its course around here and Link, MegaSquirt and Haltech are the kids in the block. So as curly said, you may need to change ECUs.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know what head I have. I can look for numbers tomorrow. The engine came out of a 1999 model year car. It does have an adjustable CAS which I understand to be sensor that the Hydra uses to determine TDC and thus determine the timing. I am trying to make sure my TDC point is the same as it was before I moved the sensor, otherwise it will be retarded or advanced from where it was before.
I emailed Flyin Miata for a recommendation, and I await a reply. As far as replacing a perfectly good ECU, I cannot justify the effort/cost just because I am trying to find a baseline.
