Bumping because KOracing.net sells the replacement wideband sensor for $175.

Did anyone ever determine if you can use the OEM 23402 connector on the hydra or do you have to cut it out and use the hydra connector? Actually, this is more a question of whether or not the cal resistor will interfere with the performance of the hydra ecm? So, should you plug it in, open air calibrate it, then try and run it, or do you need to cut out the plug with the resistor in it to get it to operate right.

Inquiring minds want to know.

The Hydra setup uses either a Weatherpack or Metripack connector from Delphi. They cut off the OEM connector including the cal resistor and perform a free air calibration. The presence of the cal resistor is irrelevant as there would need to be two additional wires going back to the hydra to measure the value.

You could change the wiring on your Hydra to use CONN-00124 (the opposing connector to the stock OEM connector on the sensor) or CONN-85588 if you wanted a pigtail so that you wouldn't need to modify a sensor each time you get a non-Hydra supplied one.

I do have the OEM connector as described on my car. I appreciate the answer, that's what I needed to know.

Just for fun, I check into the prices on all of this stuff again. My God have the prices of these sensors shot up. I can't really find the 13246 for less than $317. Why the fuck are they so expensive? I guess I could bitch a little less if I suck it up and upgrade to 2.7

13246 = SNSR-01016 here for $250

The cheap sensor some are able to use is $148 at the same place (SNSR-01010)

NGK prices have shot up, Japanese exchange rates have not been favorable and lots of vehicle production is moving out of Japan.

Concealer404 is right, call Kriss at KO Racing in Oregon city. He sells Hydra's and has helped Andrew develope the Hydra since its inception. You well get the right one for a lot less with no issues. He has tuned several Miatas in the area. This guy has forgotton more then any of us well ever know about a Hydra.

I'm going to knock this thread back up. Looks like my wb02 needs to be replaced. I now have 2.7 and I gather I can now use a less expensive unit....and am now seeking to figure out which sensors can be used and what's good.....I'm guessing there is better stuff out there now than the old L2H2 that I last replaced. Anyone want to throw a recommendation or two my way?

I believe you still use the same unit, but now with the OEM plug instead of the "proprietary" GM Delphi plug that they used to hack on them so they could upcharge.

That's really the only difference.

Still the same low current pump cell (lza08) or high current pump cell (l2h2) sensor options. Some report the lza08 cell version works. I will personally continue to use the l2h2 sensor as the calibration curve varies increasingly away from stoich if they haven't specifically programmed for it. Send me or put up a picture of the connector & the writing you have on your original sensor and I can tell you what your specific options are to match what you have.
