I'm not a regular poster on this forum, as can be seen by the post count on my now banned account. I come here ocasionally for info when I'm trying to figure something out for my DIY turbo setup, but it is not my main source of info. Except for this thread, how is one to know that maitaforum rules forbid raising post count like I did??

I was trying to reply to a legitimate PM from another member who wanted to know how I had installed a Probe I/C in my car. I guess that he won't be getting that info now since I can't access my old PMs and don't remember his name. Sorry Bud.

Jamie does have a point... we don't want to get a reputation as elitist ********. In fact, he seems like the type of guy we need to start recruiting to come over here to add to the mix. Remember RicanMiataRacer and how much fun it was to have him around even if he didn't know anything (like me, and before he fell off the planet). Fresh faces, new ideas, alternate approaches, etc...

On all the forums I've ever subscribed to (can't remember about this one) I got an immediate email and PM from the forum as soon as I registered and verified my email. That email and PM was something like "Welcome to the forum" yadda yadda... I read them all to make sure I haven't missed any "special rules" but some others might not. Maybe that email can contain bold letters "HEY, NEWBS, YOU CAN'T PM UNTIL YOU'VE GOT XX POSTS AND DON'T BE A POST-***** TO GET AROUND IT OR YOU'LL BE BANNED!!!"

I agree that bumping posts just to PM or post in the classifieds isn't the "right" thing to do, you should pay your bills and do your time... and it wouldn't take more than a day or two of "borderline" post whoring to get up to the limit. Just talk some **** in the BS forum or start a "HI, new guy here" thread and you should make it in no time.

 

i think the idea is that one should contribute something to the forum before they can reap the benefits so to speak.

How ******* hard is it to post some relevant **** in the BS section? Jesus christ you can get 10 posts in an hour without having to be a dick about it.
