2010 F1 Predictions

Well, now that Schumacher's back they don't, lol. Last season wasn't too bad, seen worse.
I really hope F1 comes back to the states. I got to go to the USGP a few times when it was here and it was amazing hearing and seeing those machines in person. Damn you Michelin...

The F1 motormansions are way over the top. Hell I'd be happy with a enclosed hauler with an A/C unit, a Chinese generator, and an old sofa.
I did not make it to the USGP. I am envious. It would be a good excuse to go to Europe, expense aside.

Oh snap!
Formula 1? - The Official F1? Website
They're just taking the USF1 slot out all together. Shame, I was looking forward to MSC with 25 other targets, now he just has 23.

Man...had options set to block new posts in BS section...missed thread.
I think this will be a very good year. There are 6 drivers that could consistently battle for podium spots, and 4 that I consider real championship contenders.
Alonso is my personal bet, and favorite. This is subject to team directives though, and may not play into his favor depending on just how much Ferrari wants to **** off the FIA and fanbase this year.
That also assumes that the cars are strong, which they appear to be. Them laying off development last year to begin work on this years car should have them as far ahead in the engineering department as BrawnGP was last year.
I also pick Ferrari as the manufacturer this year for this reason.
But I love Schumi. He's also been talking up all the other teams during practice, and then finally comes around and says that yeah, his team IS good enough to podium after all. Classic Schumacher...he's going to come out hitting hard. Also notice talk from the team about how the two drivers are equally fast, and how they can't really compare lap times due to different conditions on different days etc.. etc... They just don't want to say how fast MS is, but I bet he's OVER a second faster than Rosberg. That being said I don't think he'll waltz right back in and take the championship. This team and both drivers are set to improve throughout the season, and if other teams fall apart their consistency will win them a manufacturer if not driver championship.
Outside shots are Vettel and Hamilton. If I were investing and not betting these would be my guys, but it's more fun to pull for a 7 time champ and Ferrari's new hotshoe. If Hamilton and Alonso come out as the two most competitive drivers, Hamilton will triumph.
Button wins one race due to team directives. They will bet on Hamilton long before a repeat championship out of Jensen. He will learn what it was to be Rubens last year. Really I think he's more of a David Coulthard parallel this year. He's too laid back to fight about it, and won't get all dramatic like Barrichello.
I want to see how Kobayashi does. He's the best of the rookie class, and his Sauber ride gives him a chance at some strong finishes as long as he has the skill.
Lotus.
Virgin.
Lots of GOOD storylines and things to watch this year, despite two mainstay manufacturers being gone. I think the move to get more teams in doesn't pay off this year (as witnessed by USF1), but will provide more competition in subsequent years.
Either way it looks like a spec series this year, and driver talent will really show. The last time the cars were this equal there were a lot more electronic aids in them, and it WAS boring.
This year will not be boring.

+1 good analysis Gospeed.
MotoGP is a whole other topic, a good one. I read that they are going to allow production engines starting in 2012, I think that is the year. And they are going back up to 1000cc on displacement. There are also limits now on the bore or stroke, I forget which, I think it is bore. The riders in MotoGP are Gods of insanity, especially Rossi and Stoner. Being a Texan I am rooting for Spies and Edwards though, both former CMRA racers BTW.
I wish I knew what Edwards deal is. He qualifies well, then just goes backwards during the race. He is Mr. Consistent though and always does well overall in season points. I think Spies has a real shot at finishing in the top three, if not the top. It is going to be a really good year.
