I dont think the interiors are that bad. Its just that **** interior and American car are synonymous in people's minds because it was like that so long. American cars have made huge strides in interior in the last few years.

Motortrend said the new Dodge was the first 30K truck where you got an interior equivalent to a 30K car. The didnt say that about an import truck.

Lexus IS interior. Start at 35K

Mustang GT interior

Is the mustang interior that much worse. I actually dont think so. Plus the Lexus is a luxury car, they are supposed to have nice interiors.

Heres a **** interior, never here anyone talk about it.

Thats because all imports have awesome interiors and all american cars have **** interiors.

Way too cluttered. I like simple.

I'm not seeing how this is so much simpler?

I owned both and the Mustang interior was much nicer, quieter on the highway, etc.

How's this for cluttered?

I still think my BMW is hard to beat. This is mine exactly down to the wood and leather color. I also think the dash looks better without the nav in it.

There are some differences but they are subtle, subjective, and hard to pin down. For example, negatives for the Mustang interior pictured in tan are the "panel gaps" (e.g. between the center stack and center console), the way some of the materials look like they will feel, some large "blank" spaces in the plastics (e.g. around the headlight dial), the chunky and blocky lines (e.g. the center console looks like it came out of a 1/2 ton pickup), etc.

All that said, I think a lot of it is summed up well by Opti:

My wife recently had a Chevy Malibu as a rental car, but not the most recent two iterations. I guess this was a mid-2000s model (2006-2008). It was the incarnation of all the negative stereotypes regarding domestic brand interiors.

They are pretty small compared to the new Challenger and Camaro...both of which are over-sized dumptrucks. Though the styling of the Challenger is pretty cool, esp. in SRT trim or when modded in a non-hoodrat way. The new Camaro is just a ugly piece of ghetto ****...nothing can make that car look good....nothing.

z31 You keep linking random mazdas and other imports that I never said had nice interiors. The mazdaspeed that I referenced was my Miata not an MS3. I also stated that almost all new cars have terrible interiors with cheap plastics. I just stressed that American cars and Korean cars from my experience have been worse. This was from my experience test driving a ton of cars back in late 2011 when I was looking for my next ride. The ergonomics and cluttered look are also a concern in a lot of new cars. I am not saying the Mustang is terrible for its class or even below average. I think most new car interiors are very blah.

I never really cared about interiors until I got a car that has a terrible one: my vette lol.
Its bad. Really bad. Driving the miata and vette back to back I suddenly think my '01 NB interior is really really nice. But I comfort myself with the amazing torque the fact that it looks good on the outside haha

oh and to whoever compared the mustang and lexus IS interiors: LOLOLOLOL
Don't even consider comparing those two. What you see in some google image picture doesn't tell even 5% of the story. New Lexus IS interior is simply hands down one of the best out there now. Mustang can't even touch it.

I've linked only an MS3 and my old Mustang, the other pics were linked by other posters.

I was merely posting that my recent experience between Japanese and American interiors has been in favor of the Mustang. My last few cars before the '13 Mustang were a '11 Frontier (Pro-4X with cheap, vinyl feeling leather), '10 MS3, and a '06 350Z Grand Touring..at 30k miles the bolsters were falling apart, by 50k both seats would have needed a complete recover. Really, really pathetic on a car with an MSRP north of $35k in 2006 dollars. The BOSE was also TERRIBLE compared to the Rockford Fosgate in the truck.

The Mustang interior felt nicer than any of the previous DDs. Either way, it's all subjective and we aren't going to agree.

It definitely needs one!

I mainly ditched mine since running costs were eating into the track budget. 16-17mpg combined on a tank that was mostly highway (the 3.73s in the Track Pack killed mileage.......but scratching 4th gear was infinitely entertaining), 9 quarts of 5w-50, etc.

I think the stock front pads for the Brembo's made Carbotech's look cheap.

I want one of the new 5.0 as it is, but the way I want it is $43k. I ain't even about to pay that lolz. I did test drive a new 5.0 car, I liked the interior. The one I drove had the touch screen and and all that stuff. One Mustang that I absolutely hate, and that is everything about it. Looks, interior, and how I felt in the car is the 2007-2009 models. They look terrible, I hate the driver orientation in the car, I hate how the steering wheel feels.

My brother has a 87 5.slow hatch back. I keep telling him to make a single turbo drag car. But he won't listen to me.

Just like the 370z was going to be lighter than the 350z
and the NC was going to be the same weight as the NB
