Default So I bought a road bike today

After years of riding BMX I finally decided to road biking.

Anyways, bike will not come in until Thursday but it is a 2011 Giant Defy 1 w/105 parts carbon seat stay, and fork.

Does anyone else ride?

Yep Trek Madone 5.5 with Ultegra components. Been at it about 7 years now, very addicitive. Good luck with the bike. I have a Giant TCR also with 105s that I rode over 16k miles with no issues.

I just got back into road biking after a 25 year hiatus. It's been great!

I grabbed a specialized roubaix comp (not sure of the spelling), and it's awesome.

I looked at the Roubaix but the small was still a little big at 53.7CM and I am only 5'5 so I went with the small Giant.

It's all about the fit, I think. You'll be totally psyched with the Giant if you have the fit dialed in. That's a great bike.

Also, if you don't have them, invest in good biking shorts!

My brother is doing an ironman tomorrow; I'll have to see what bike he uses. All I remember is I could lift it with my pinkie with ease. The half ironman he did a couple months ago he used a Schwinn Varsity which was a really awesome bike.

Currently I've been using a Schwinn Avenue Hybrid, and it's an amazing bike compared to the Magnas I had. I used it in my last triathlon and the only complaint I have was the handlebars came loose halfway through. I recommend getting a cheap tachometer to pace yourself and measure distance. You can get them for $8 at a cycle shop and zip tie it to your bike, or if you're baller you could just get a GPS watch.
